Technically they are not the same. DEX is a simple carb and digests very quickly. MALT is a more complex carb and takes a bit longer to digest.
Using both PWO (with WHEY) is recommended to give your muscles a quick answer for the muscle eating effects of cortisol and then supply the muscles with the
energy needed for recovery and growth.
Bulking it is recommended to use a 3 - 1 ratio of DEX to MALT.
Cutting you should aim more towards a 1 - 1 ratio.
In both cases, in order not to spike your insulin too quickly you should drink half of your PWO immediately after your WO then sip the other half over then next 30 - 45 minutes.
