What you all recon the best value for money protein bars would be?

Based on building mass, as i am really struggling to get my 15:00 meal in due to work.

The other option I thought of going for was a meal replacement shake. But I would have to mix it, in the morning. Would this be ok for the shake ?

I would stick with a premade shake. Just put it in a shaker and shake it up before you drink. The ingredients in most protein bars are crap. Most of them don't use complete protein, don't meet label claims, and use shitty carb sources.

Ditto that comment. You'll only get sub-par protein from a bar anyhow. Stick with a quality shake from a reputable company.

Bars are not the way to go for quality lean mass gains.

Shakes are the way to go, but if your in a bind, I like ISS's Pro42 bar.

I still can't understand why they can't make a protein bar with descent ingredients. I would sacrifice a little taste for a quality protein bar. Sometimes protein bars can come in handy when you are in a rush and can't get to a shake.

If you are trying to get in some carbs, just add some oatmeal(blended) to a protein shake or meal replacement shake. Make for a good meal.

I start work tomorrow & will be using mrps for 2 of my meals, chicken in wheat bread third work meal.
I still need more calories.
An MRP packet is 250 caloies, 40g protein & I need 700 calories a meal.
I was thinking about adding a flax cap to a couple of meals, slice of bread, etc.
But that's still only 500 calories >:(
Oatmeal, etc. is out of the question.
I need to keep everywhere as tidy as possible.

How is oatmeal out of the question?

Just blend some in with your meal replacement. What about brown rice, sweet potatoes, and fruit. Just put each of them in plastic containers and warm up in the microwave.

My opinion is, protein bars are fine, but you need to treat them like candy bars. Don't live of off them, and use them as "cheats," don't expect them to be healthy.

J-Man: The reason there aren't good protein bars is that getting protein by itself into bar form without a bunch of carbs, fat, or fillers is hard to do. This is why companies use various tricks to try to make it look like it's better than it actually is. For example, "impact carbs." rolleyes.gif

As far as favorites, I like ISS Pro42, a Met-RX bar (forgot the name, has lots of protein though that isn't all soy), and (as pretty much a candy bar with extra protein) Optimum Opti-Pro Meal bars.
