I mentioned to the supplements buyer at my gym that I was trying SesaThin and that the only downsides are the cost and the taste (I can't say yet if it's working). She suggested I try CLA by EAS, saying it's basically the same type of product but with years of studies supporting its claims (as opposed to SesaThin which is still relatively new). The price of CLA is $21 for 90 gel caps, which will last 15 days if taken as recommended on the bottle so it's comparably priced. Does anyone know anything about CLA and how it compares to SesaThin? Thanks!

Some say that cla works in higher doses, most actually prefer fish oil to cla. Sesathin has gotten much better review imo than cla and Sesathin is much newer than cla.

I have tried CLA and do not like how much one needs to take, or the suggested dosage to be taken an hour before meals. I keep fish oil in my diet year round and this helps me to stay lean. I just recently started using sesathin and find it to be a great-added benefit. I have found more success with sesathin in a week and some days then I have had with CLA for months in the past. Personally, depending on what you want to do, or if it is just to help burn fat, and you are on a good diet, try the sesathin.

CLA does have more research supporting its use, but the dosage required to see results is higher than the generally recommended amount. CLA also has a number of negative effects on health, such as promoting insulin resistance, so I do not think it is worth taking.

I am not sure how much sesathin you take a day, but it is 25 bucks a month for sesathin, and as u said $42 a month for CLA. ONe of my frineds swears by CLA, but he takes like 12 gram a day. So it wont b 42 bucks a month. Avant lab suppsoed to come out with gelcap verson soon, so check it out if you cannot stand the taste of it.

David, if i'm not mistaken, the insulin resistance associated with CLA is transient, not chronic. Furthermore, to whomever posted the comment about "recommended dosages" for CLA- somethings you have to take more of than you really care to if you want it to work. and with some supplements- that's just dangerous. In my research of CLA the amount needed to elicit benefits to body composition is about 4.2 - 4.7 grams per day, often admistered in 3 doses. if you take a supplement that is 70% CLA, you'll end up taking about 6 grams of the supplement. I am one of those who has used CLA and i DO swear by it. Many of my clients have taken it and seen rapid results. It works significantly better than in many studies if you take it while on a workout regimen. the american journal on clinical nutrition has many articles of direct research and meta-analysis on CLA and its effects. just my opinion from my own, personal research. I haven't seen any evidence for this.

A big problem with CLA research is that many studies use isomer specific material (9,11 or 10,12) while the commercially available material is a mix of the two. 10, 12 seems to behave as a PPAR-gamma antagonist, while the 9,11 isomer behaves like an agonist. So, they largely cancel each other out. Both of the individual isomers have interesting applications. I would really like to see SesaThin and the 10,12 isomer in combination.
