Dear Bulk,
I've recently received my
ALA order . Eager to try it out I picked up the
ALA, only to read on the bottle that it contained the for me 'off-limits' beef gelatin capsules . . .

Since it seems a popular product, would you consider just selling it in bulk powder form ? also helps as far as dosing is concerned. (I noticed quite a few ppl like to use it in larger quantity) .
I'm not just a nagging vegetarian, but also fear for the safety of these beef gelatin type capsules. (As i mentioned on another thread).
I mean, do you have any clue as to where these caps came from ? I don't want to sound paranoid, but although prionic infection mechanisms are still only in the early stages of research and discovery. They are very real. And with an incubation time of 10 - 15 years, (just to name one for a more 'common' prionic disease (TSE)) it's obviously very difficult so many years down the line to determine causes of infection. Top this of with the fact prions and there determination are still relatively 'new' in the food processing world and it makes for a special mix.
I feel kind of weird, being the only person apparently on the planet taking this matter into consideration but, it would be very nice if you, or anyone at bulk could at least consider selling bulk powder for us worriers .
For a starting reference I would like to point you (or any interested readers) to an early article by Eigen [1]. Other then that, there seems to be a growing body of literature dealing with this matter. Haven't found much concerning infected animals and gelatin production, but one could argue that since testing for certain prions is most likely not mandatory in many parts of the world there is not much to be expected in this field (yet) [2].
Best regards,
