That's what I plan on doing. I love training and cutting calories doesn't bother me at all. I find that I eat cleaner this way. I just LOATHE cardio, as I'm sure most of us iron junkies do...thanks for the straight to the point answer. Take care, Scottynik.

Just do the bike or eliptical for 15minutes 3x a week, its just enough to increase your metabolism.

Sure it's possible, but cardio provides other benefits besides fat loss.

Thought of this....![]() "Cardio sucks. There’s no beauty or grace in it. You’re not moving huge weight. It’s just painful." Sounds hardcore. I'm sure it works...... |

That is a very good point. Increased circulatory viability.... |

As well as increases in HGH, Testosterone, Lowered Insulin Sensitivity, Greater sugar metabolism, improved fat oxidation when not working out, and decreased inflammatory response to name a few. Human beings were meant to move a lot.

Hey, I appreciate all of the feedback and have been knocking off about 45 min of moderate cardio AT LEAST 5 days a week now. I just bit the bullet and said "fuck it"...wish me luck.

clinical studies actually show that resistive excersice is a better way to burn fat than cardio. Although cardio is great for the heart and the whole circulatory system dont get me wrong. But if you want to get cut keep your nutrition in check, cut back on your caloric intake and try something like HIT or super circuits. So the answer is YES you can cut without cardio. It just comes down to, are you gonna enjoy it? lol.

You can do it, but it's not a good idea. If you lose fat by severely cutting your calories, your metabolism grinds to a halt. The reason pro bb'rs get away with it is the massive amounts of drugs they take.

^ Very true, about the pro's. Have you ever looked into carb cycling? Cardio would still be benificial but as i stated before 15 minutes will suffice 3 times a week. Ive been watching a few carb cycling logs and i have to admit that the results are pretty sick, they are still growing and dropping bodyfat rapidly. They arent starving themselves, but its very detailed with your macro's. Im going to be doing this at the beginning of spring to get ready for the competition season. Oh i forgot to mention, some of these guys that are carb cycling arent doing any cardio.

all you really need is a calorie deficit, this is what cardio creates. You will want to eat foods that have a long burn time in order to keep your insulin steady though.

I've never counted exact macros for more than a few weeks strait, so take this for what its worth. I find it much easier to lose bodyfat by just upping cardio and not dropping cals. When i try and drop cals i feel like i lose a lot more muscle than i would by just upping my cardio and keeping the same calories. I would never cut without cardio but thats just me. You can even make part of your workout feel like cardio. I know when i start supersetting bodyparts it really get the blood pumping. That might offer you a little refuge from the tredmill

You don't need to cut calories or do excessive cardio to cut. Just cut your carbs and fat intake. Ala "Atkin's Diet", or what used to be the BB's diet until some Californian hob-knob convoluted the idea as radical or new. It's amazing what happens when you feed your body what it needs and nothing more. If you remove excess rest between lifts, you can maintain an elevated heart rate -- which is the same as cardio. Any professional BB will tell you their diet changes when it comes time to cut at the expense of temporary weakness due to a calorie deficit and unnaturally low carb counts. Dry and raw foods only. This can be done with or without illicit substances. It's just more difficult to deal with when you're not using.
