All it did was make the oil and gas companies richer. That's where the money went.

Posted by: tree33 Jul 31 2008, 10:54 AM
I put my $1200 in my savings account.

Word. Mine went to the freakin gas company.

Did anyone actually buy anything (not necessities) with it?

I went to Vegas with the chump change they sent me. Chilled around the pool and got tanked, partied up at night. Didn't do much gambling except for the $50 I laid on some 3 game baseball parlay when I was hammered. It was pretty much eeny meeny miney moe. Damn thing ended up paying back like 4 bills plus my bet.

Ironically, our $1200 check went towards our $1500 real estate tax bill. rolleyes.gif

The gub'ment shall giveth and shall taketh away.

Anyone ever figure out exactly how much a single $1 gets taxed after it's all said and done?

For every dollar $1 you make the Fed Govt. takes $.25 cents of it if you have State tax then your state takes another part of it like mine takes 10% or another dime from my dollar, thats 35 cents already. That is off the top, then when you go and buy groceries the city takes another 8 - 10 cents for every $1 dollar you spend. wow there goes almost 50% of your income. mad.gif blink.gif

Income tax doesn't bother me nearly as much as property taxes. Of course most of you can't relate though since I live in a state that has the highest property taxes in the country.

I'd need like 7 of tree's stimulus checks to pay for that shit.

No need for a cell phone, I have an answering machine if they call and I don't answer I am not home, simple as that. Plus I am not that important of a person that people need to get a hold of me anytime they want to.

I SWEAR I saw a bullet for Obama's plan that he thought we needed more economic stimulus checks. Wait i did:

http://money.cnn.com/2008/06/09/news/economy/obama_economy_changetour/

"On the first day of what is to be a two-week economic tour around the country, Barack Obama said Monday that lawmakers should inject another $50 billion immediately into the sluggish U.S. economy...Such relief can't wait until the next president takes office. ... That's why I've called for another round of fiscal stimulus, an immediate $50 billion to help those who've been hit hardest by this economic downturn."

"He said that he supports the expansion and extension of unemployment benefits, as well as a SECOND ROUND OF REBATE CHECKS."

I knew this "throw money at them" approach was idiotic the first time around but Obama wanted to throw MORE money around just weeks before news articles ran saying the stimulus checks were a total failure.

Not only does this show piss poor economic planning on Obama's part, but MORE concerning is that this is basically putting out the notion that "If you vote for me, I'll send you money."

Can you imagine if this caught on as a part of politics? Politicians one-upping each other on how much "economic stimulus" they'd mail to people if they got elected? The potential for complete disaster is enormous.
