| In the HOW TO DO A CKD thread by Dr. X, he recommends using body weight X 12 to get BMR. A guy that's 170lb would get a BMR of 2040 using this method I've always heard of using the benedict formula to find BMR
Then multiply that BMR number by a factor of 1.2 to 1.9 depending on activity level, to get effective maintenance BMR.
Okay so two questions: 1) should a person use their body weight or LBM for these formulas? I've heard if you're over 20% BF you shouldn't use body weight... 2) is there a benefit or problem using the benedict formula in conjunction with CKD? |

| It really dosen't matter what you use. Once you start then you will be adjusting on a regular basis, you just don't want your cals to low. What your basically are looking for is a starting point. |
