So i got fired thursday. The reason was because some calls i made from work and received to work were done w/o logging out of the phone.

is there a way to get unemployment for this or is it considered misconduct at work and I'b stiffed?

advices...

how long do you have to be at a place to collect unemployment and does unemployment come through the company or the gov?

Posted by: Tswole Jul 5 2008, 03:53 PM
how do you get unemployment? what steps do you have to go through to collect?

Go here Tswole if your in Virginia like your profile says:

http://www.vec.virginia.gov/vecportal/unins/insunemp.cfm

Create a user name and password and file on-line........you'll never be able to get thru on the phone next week cuz they passed the bill for Extended Benefits and the phones are flooded........at least they are here in Cali.........

Fukk Roids, I get $450/week...........$211/week?..........that bloze donkey schlong ohmy.gif

Posted by: Tswole Jul 5 2008, 04:19 PM
cool man, i'll do that now.

Roids- Were you Fired or Laid off?

Does it differ for the opportunity to collect?

I was layed off currently..............so no problem collecting UI

In 2001 I was fired and got shut down when I applied for benefits mad.gif

If you're boss is cool, when they contact him he has to appeal the process if he doesn't want you to collect.....If he just blows it off and refuses to do the necessary paperwork you'll be fine.

Why not just go get another job, and not be drain on the economy?

Posted by: cc-10 Jul 5 2008, 09:27 PM
takes time to find a decent job, and prolly needs funds for his responsibilities

took me about a month and a half to find a job and i looked a few hours a day and had interviews a few times a week

Posted by: Josh47933 Jul 5 2008, 09:49 PM
It depends on state labor laws. I got fired unjustly once and filed for unemployment. The company denied it, claiming misconduct. So, rather than just accepting it, I appealed and had a phone hearing w/ corporate, their lawyer and the unemployment judge.

It was a little intimidating at first, but i knew I was in the right, so I made my case for why it was for BS reasons, countered the arguements they made, etc....and actually won.

They appealed the decision, so it went to a state panel, that also ruled in my favor. So, you can beat them if you can show you didn't do what they said you did, or present it in a way to show it wasn't really misconduct.

At the time of the hearing (it took a while to get to that point), I already had a new job and was really only out of a job for a few weeks. By that time, it was more a matter of principle than money.

It was a good feeling to know that I was vindicated and that I kinda won a David vs. Goliath deal. Good luck w/ the unemployment try.

Well since I'm paying your bills dead beat, how you suck my balls?

Posted by: kzyman13 Jul 6 2008, 11:06 AM
I"ve been on the employer side of fighting unemployment cases in Michigan. Your employer has to be able to show that you were fired because you knew you did something wrong.

In your case if it's not stated somewhere that using the phone however you did will result in losing your job AND you were never warned otherwise, than I would say you have a good chance of collecting even if your employer contests it.

Basicly they should have to prove that it was documented somewhere that you had been warned or were aware that you could lose your job for what you did.

Sparks are on me, Roids......I'll front you with my Extension biggrin.gif

I know you have to have worked there for a certain amount of time...4 years I think. Maybe there's other stipulations in different states like Josh said. The only way I qualified was cuz I was in the military for 4 yrs. I got a $550 check last week.

How'd the interviews go today? Hopefully one of them will make you an offer.

Heres a thought you lazy bastard. Get another job until you can find one in banking again. Maybe then your kids won't have to worry about starving.

assuming you have the balls to talk to people like this in real life...do u get punched in the head often? just a question you dont have to answer...fuckin douche.

If you're a father of two kids, and have gone this long being unemployed, I'm not really afraid you'd try and punch me. I'm 30 years old have no kids, and I've never been unemployed long enough to need to collect unemployment, and if I had kids, I'd damn sure not be sitting around waiting for a job to show up. I have lots of friends who got laid off from their preferred job field, but they went out and got other jobs immediately, becuase they have kids to support. Do they like the jobs they have? No, but they work at them till they can get a job in their field again.

Do you ever get tired of being a coward who vandalizes peoples cars, instead of confronting them face to face?

Posted by: azfittrainer Jul 9 2008, 02:33 PM
No I just hate deadbeats.

Posted by: willpiazza31 Jul 9 2008, 03:52 PM
Deadbeat?

The guy got laid off. That's what unemployment is for dumbass.

I know you're isolated in the middle of nowhere in this fantasy land where people get jobs (paying more than unemployment) the day after they get fired. Too bad it's not like that in the rest of the country.

Posted by: azfittrainer Jul 9 2008, 05:22 PM
Last I checked any fulltime job, even a minimum wage one will pay more than 235 a week. Unemployment is meant to be there until you find something else, not to sit on your ass till what you want comes along.

Bull shit dude, if you want to complain about people who get unemployment then maybe you should go to a board where people complain about shit like that. I assume he made pretty good money between 70-80 grand a year, how much do you think he paid in Taxes on that money? about 30% of that money went to taxes you do that math that comes to about $25,000 a year in taxes I think he deserves 3-4 times what he is getting a week now in unemployment, yet he is not complaining at all about how much he is getting because he is out trying to find a job that pays close to what he was making. I would not call this man a dead beat when he has given the Government over 300,000 plus dollars over the coarse of his employed days I think its time the government gave back a little till he can find what it is he is looking for.

Now STFU and eat dick.

It's different for a dipshit like assfit who works for a state community college where even a loser like himself can hang around for 30 years making $35k/year without having to worry about getting fired once they have tenure. Unfortunately, it's not like that in the corporate world.

Exactly

little update...i checked with the unemployment stuff but i think i'll get a job before it kicks in...the first check will come sometime next week and somethings gotta give before then. I'm tired of sales and want to get something with a more open schedule.

I"ve applied wtih my county for a water utility agent position and a firefighter spot in a neighboring county. the cash is lower then what i was making in the lending field...roids you can relate with the market in the shitter...but i want more freedom in schedule and a job where i dont have to convince someone to buy something....sales is old.

and i didnt think unemployment was collected from tax payers, AZ....isnt it an insurance that employers purchase...its not welfare.

Correct..........Employers pay into it!!

The Extension is Federally Funded and not State Funded......It was included in The War Supplemental Funding Bill.........

It still a burden on the economy, no matter who pays it.

Pretty tough talk over a key board. I don't care how much he paid in taxes, he should quit bragging about collecting unemploymeny. Last I check this was the Off-Topic forum where you can discuss what ever you want.

I work for the county, which actually right now pays better than the state. It's true though, I know some seriously incompetent people working here, who should get fired but won't. It's really really hard to get a job here, but once you're in, you're in for life, just like the mafia.

its been about 2 weeks since i was last on here. anything interesting happen while i was out?

I also am collecting unemployment in the amount of about 350 or so. I've applied to over 20 different positions but now-a-days it takes a while to get a call back and the unemployment pool is higher so more fight for a spot. I'm tired off all the downtime.
