Holy hell, I was watching the HD trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/ universal/theincrediblehulk/), and it's just incredible how realistic they got all the musculature, and how good it looks when he moves! And the striations in his chest are just incredible. I love it! Needless to say, I'm a CG nut, and can't get enough of this stuff. I also work in a similar field, so I have great respect for the amount of work put into setting up a 3d model and muscle structure that behaves in this manner. Give him some water, he looks dehydrated! Wish I could have found some higher resolution images, but just watch the trailer (or go see it in the theater--that's probably what I'm gunna do).

the hulk is a tough sell...didn't they just make a HULK a few years back and it sucked shit? I've actually heard really good reviews on this one though...but again, for hulk fans, a tough sell. Quite a few fuckers grew up on Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk. He wasn't ridiculously big or CGI-looking. I think they should have followed in that tradition. Get a new bodybuilder to play the part, paint his ass green and make it happen. oh well.

even if they put a bodybuilder in the roll, there'd still be plenty of room to do CGI shit...Imagine how awesome the transformation from Bruce Banner to THE HULK would be with CGI and a bodybuilder as the hulk. Plus the sheer power of the hulk etc. flipping cars and whatnot. Like I said though, they released a HULK a few years back and it had really shitty reviews and I didn't even bother watching it. This one with Ed Norton is supposed to be the sleeper hit of the summer...take it for whatever it's worth. Marvel has been putting out some great shit lately, alot of it has to do with Stan Lee. Pretty much all of the Marvel movies have been halfway fucking decent if they didn't kick ass. Daredevil and Elektra were probably the two worst and they were still alright...nowhere near as half as bad as some of the other shit I've wasted my time watching.

I've heard good things about Ironman also. One thing that I've got to say sucks shit about some of the comic book movies is how they are utterly condensed. I think hollywood could do better to capitalize on these characters by stretching them out a little more. You've got Spiderman who has been around since something like 1962. That's 40+ years of storyline. Same thing with the X-Men who first appeared in 1963. From what I've heard, the X-men and Spiderman franchises are both dead...they are supposed to come out with "Wolverine" at some point. So instead of doing X-Men 1-3 or Spiderman 1-3, I just wish they would have stretched it out a little more.

Not sure, but I'm almost certain that the CG character's proportions are just ridiculous, which is what makes him look so huge. Even if they used a Mr. O, you'd probably have to add six inches in length to each arm, and another six around, plus six to his shoulder width to get what they've made in CG. Not to mention the forearms. Oh, and get rid of the GH gut. And as far as what it used to be, it might have been great back then, but I just don't think it has stood the test of time. And whoever says it doesn't look real enough, well, it is based on a comic book ya know. Besides, if you see it/him in motion, it looks a lot more realistic.

To recreate the Hulk you need something CGI'd. A normal person could never fit the role as the genetic mutation involved more than muscular generation. The skeleton was involved as well. In this movie they did a pretty good job at trying to hold realism while maintaining the original Hulk's character. A lot of the original puns were left in tact. They did a really good job sculpting out the Hulk's persona in this film. The first Hulk film was just ridiculous. The directing was too much for this type of character and film. The story over-all is awesome. I'd rank it #2 so far vs. other comic book movies. Iron Man taking #1. -- SPOILER ALERT --- The insinuations and clues were littered across this film. The Leader (!!), Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Doc Samson and others. "Visual effects supervisor Kurt Williams envisioned the Hulk's physique as a linebacker rather than a bodybuilder. A height of nine feet was chosen for the character as they did not want him to be too inhuman. To make him more expressive, computer programs controlling the inflation of his muscles and saturation of skin color were created. Williams cited flushing as an example of humans' skin color being influenced by their emotions.[38] Leterrier cited An American Werewolf in London as the inspiration for Banner's transformation, wanting to show how painful it was for him to change.[47] As a nod to the live action TV series, Banner's eyes change color first when he transforms.[48]"
