There seems to a lot of fakes sites out there that pretend to offer free spyware removal software, yet actually download spyware to your PC. So, it's hard to tell what's legit and what isn't. What do some of you guys use?

Don't download or install anything you didn't ask for or anything you didn't pay for. There's no software that does it for free forever. McAfee and Norton have free trials, but you have to pay for it after that. Those are two of the best. Microsoft Windows Defender is a good initial program, but you'll need something else for removal if you've already got spyware or adware or malware.

I already have McAfee. Spybot is good and free. Adaware is supposed to be good also. But, at the Lavasoft site, you have to buy a subscription, whereas it used to be free (at least a free trial). There are several other places that claim to have a free adaware download, but I suspect they are fakes.

you might want to try cnet to DL adaware, i think that's where i got it

I have always used the free adaware with no problems in 5 years with the same computer
