omni i dont drink or smoke and i actually did give u advice. if u just tighten the straps uber tight you should be ok. unless u really cant close your hands that much. longer straps might help.


OR maybe you just cant shurg more than 135. thats what i think it is. God you are a fuckin cry baby.

oh ya are u actually from detroit? if so then we should go out for a beer man. dont forget to bring your straps. those 22 ouncers are almost as heavy as 315. pussy

Is it any different when using DBs? Usually the grip is a bit larger on them than your standard barbell. Does your gym have any thick grip bars?

Unfortunately they don't have any thicker bars. My old university gym did, but this one doesn't.


That would greatly help if they did.

I used to do them with dumbbells, but the problem is that the highest weight of the dumbbells is 100lbs. @ 100lbs its not hard to grip, its just when it goes past 315 when i begin to have problems.

So, when i shrug 405, basically ill be able to get out 3-4 then drop it.. pick it back up and do 3-4, drop it and repeat. I just do these on the squat rack so it only drops about 2-3 inches. It's just frustrating.

Thanks for the advice though, have you ever done shrugs on the free motion machine? I've seen a few people do them that way, but i've never personally done them. I tend to do all the old school stuff.

You're just not using the straps correctly. When I use straps, I can wear my shoulders completely out without losing my grip.

I still say try jerking off left handed.
