Manana is the big day. Starting the drive at 7am and meeting my fiancee on the way (she went home for the weekend). Throwing her car on the car dolly and then we begin the trek and our new adventure to Philly. We plan on driving straight through as by the time I would stop for the night, there would only be a handful more hours so why not just keep going. Anyway, we plan on hitting the cheesesteak stands Tuesday/Wednesday. Looking forward to a new gym as well.
I have come here to do two things, kick ass, and chew bubble gum

I wouldn't move to Philly, or any part of the rust belt for any amount of money. Philly will be a huge difference from what you're used to. Say goodbye to the sun, and nice weather.

We made it Monday night/Tuesday morning and am in the office today. Walked arounda bit yesterday and toured one of the gyms.
I know the weather will be different and it's the city and all that but seriously, when a huge opportunity is presented to you, how many of you would turn it down to stay right where you are in the company and hurt your chances of ever getting another opportunity again. Yes, the winters will suck but I'm thinking a few years down the road as this is a stepping stone to something bigger and better for myself and future family.

Hey I agree with you. No one is going to hand you something for standing still. We all gotta put our time in somewhere / somehow. The more flexible you are now, the further ahead you will be down the road. I plan on moving for a few years at least. I live in Michigan so moving away isn't going to be so bad. The worst part is being away from family and friends. Hopefully I will make enough to come back on a regular basis.
It sounds like you have a good chance to get ahead. More money and free rent... thats a no brainer. Good luck to you. Hope it's going well!

So far, so good. Have toured 2 gyms....one is very nice but $80/month and the other is okay at $60/month. Both gyms are within walking/jogging distance. We have one more to check out. Worked out at the temporary facility here this morning and it wasn't bad at all. Can do most of the exercises needed so we'll see.
THey are working on a new 4,000 sq. ft. gym here which will open in the fall/winter and her and I will be running that as well
Being able to walk everywhere is pretty sweet, can go out to eat and walk it off on the way home. Might not need to do as much cardio as usual at this rate

Presumable you made the right move for your companies viewpoint. Food will be more, all that jazz. But opportunities are opportunities and you were right in taken the job.

You won't be wanting to walk every where come December.

He's from Florida, where a cold winter day is 50 degrees. Not negative 10
You don't know me or how I cope/handle things so please don't speak for me. Also, if you do not have anything positive to contribute to this great opportunity, please refrain from replying. Thank you.
