For those of you who don't know, the Turkish Get-Up is when you hold a dumbell above your head and slowly sit down, then lay down, then getting back up all while keeping control of the dumbell, its tough and basically works evertyhing, just wondering whats all your thoughts on this excersize.......

Cross fit is really BIG here at school and I watched a guy smash his head doing these. So proceed at your own risk

Was he on top of a fitness ball? That would've been better. What a dipshit. laugh.gif

I've tried these one time. If you haven't tried them, do not talk shit. They are tough, at least for me. I was only holding a 10# DB. It almost has as much to do w/ flexibility as it does strength.

Very tough thing to do w/out looking like a complete tool, which I'm sure I was no exception.

It's a great measure of shoulder flexibility, and core strength. Much like the Over Head Squat.

the Over Head Squat.

I've been doing these. I have made great strides in my shoulder flexibility. I don't have to 'strain' to keep the weight centered anymore. But, my fucking calves are still tight, so that makes the actual squat a little harder (to not let weight get on the forefoot).

That and the Dolly Parton music has to be a distraction. laugh.gif

The OHS really tests your core strength, ankle, knee, hip, and shoulder flexibility.

Guy gives a solid demonstration of it, although it doesn't look like something I'd be interested in doing. To each their own, just doesn't look fun at all.
