You think this war is expensive now. What if we held off for another ten year. Eventually the free world and terrorists were going to come to blows. So we either pay now or pay later.

Believe me, we are setting up so much business in that place inside of 20 years we are going to have control of half the region.

I'm all for domination through capitalism. Just look at Germany and Japan. Unfortunately, throwing Iraq in with those two (which isn't even a real country) is apples and oranges. Also, for some reason, I was under the impression that Al Quaeda was a terrorist group that was based in afghanistan until 2001. Al Quaeda was certainly not the nation of Iraq.

It's hard to believe some people still think the invasion of Iraq had anthing to do with terrorism. It shouldn't be a suprise though. Hell, in Russia many people still believe Stalin was a hero.

Gotta love the diversionary tactics of Bush's advisors. We all know Iraq was on the planning board before 9/11 was a twinkle in Osama's eye. But you cannot deny that establishing a Democratic nation through Capitalism (and sheer force) isn't going to assist in driving out terrorism from the region. I mean, aren't they right next door to each other?

That and change a culture that has existed as is for the last 1500 or so years. Hard to do that with bombs and greenbacks. At least without crippling our economy here at home. What do you think brought down the USSR?

I see you're still in denial JW.  That's ok tho.  Some people are still sticking by George W despite the obvious.  Good thing is, Obama has no chance of winning at this point.

I wouldn't liken myself (or Obama supporters in general) to the 27% of fools who are still down with Dubya. I understand that you're anti-Barack, and that's an opinion you're certainly entitled to, but to say he has "no chance of winning" is absurd when he's got more popular votes, delegates and states won than Clinton and polls ahead of McCain. http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/05/01/na...ven-with-obama/

I'm trying not to get too hardcore with the Presidential politics on this forum since I'm sure it'll be heating up (to say the least) after the conventions. Personally, I find your avatar offensive, but again...free country and you've got a right to express whatever opinions are rattling around in that dome of yours.

You had me until you cited Fox News. laugh.gif

Fox News is more balanced than any of the other cable news networks. Even Lieberman admitted that Fox News has covered the DEMOCRATIC primary the fairest of all of them.

Both Hillary and Obama are doing the Democratic party a favor by extending their preliminary bullshit. All this exposure is going to draw extra Democratic voters to the polls. I dunno. As a Repub, it's annoyed me more than anything into actually voting just out of spite. tongue.gif

I disagree. I think their current fight is going to do more harm to them in the general. I don't want Hillary or Obama. Their bullshit healthcare plans will end up cost everyone more money since they will have to raise more fucking taxes.

My uncle visited from Cali this past week. He has Democratic values like many of the people I know, but he said to hell with the Democrats after seeing how much he's been paying in taxes, especially this year. Even though many of his values are similar to Democratic values, he is going to solely vote McCain based on taxes. I think MANY Americans vote based on that sole reason alone. It has been proven time and time again that the more money the government takes away from the citizens, the further down the spiral the country goes, and the less money they take away from the citizens, the better the economy and mood of the country is. Look at all of the socialist countries in Europe for the past decade. Many of them are electing CONSERVATIVE leaders last year and this year in elections and appointing conservatives because they just can't afford to run the socialist system anymore. The citizens are getting sick of their nanny state government and are moving out of the countries in droves. France is one example, Italy is another, as well as other countries. I can see a big time conservative being elected to England in the next couple years with the way things are going over there (high taxes, open as hell borders allowing total influx of Middle Eastern Muslims that are ruining that country). There's no national identity in England anymore due to all of the Muslims, and the same shit is going to happen here if we keep our fucking borders wide open.

By the way, if you want to live and work in this country, learn to speak the fucking language.

Dude...you know that Lieberman is a Democrat in name only, right? Dude is in bed with the GOP more than Katherine Harris on a hot summer night. Mmmm...boobies.

Dr. X...that's the rationale for spending billions and letting thousands die? That "terrorists and freedom were going to come to blows sooner or later"? Very comforting for those who have given their lives.

Terrorist is too much of a wastebasket term nowadays. We are fighting islamic radicals who employ terrorist tactics. We were fucked from the beginning when Bush announced that we were fighting a "war on terror." It's about as logical (and effective) as fighting a war on drugs. By launching a war with such an evasive objective, Bush et al knew they could fire up the propaganda machine to go after anyone anywhere in the name of "war on terror." If they'd called it a true war against radical islam, they'd have been hard pressed to come up with a reason to go into Iraq, possibly limited to Afghanistan.
