Holy shit, as if America in itself doesnt have enough things to take care, specially these days. Lets just hand out money to the Arabs...Hey we took care of Saddam, youre on your own for the rest.

I feel like Roids posting this kinda shit, but this one bugged out my eyes.

That's why I believe that we may actually need these two suck ass political parties. They both serve a purpose. That is, they balance and offset each other. While we can't just pull out and say "sorry guys, we made a mistake. see ya! Hate to be ya!" We also couldn't continue to "stay the course" and pretend things are getting better everyday, and watch a bunch of puppet politicians squander the oil revenues while we contine to pay their way. At some point we have to pull back and say it's your turn to take charge.

They owe us at least that. Y'know, in exchange for their freedom and all.

I'd like to see the Iraqis take control of their own friggin' lives sometime soon, but Senator Bush will find a way to block it like he always does.

JW, you disagree with the war like I do. But, do you ever wonder what could have happened, say if we'd sent 500,000 troops over there, locked the place down, left the existing military in power, and took the place over like we did Germany and Japan, if we possibly could've helped the people there actually build a true civilized western-style country. I have my doubts, but I can't help but wonder what could have been done if we'd done it the same way we did in WWII with Germany & Japan, if we'd had better leadership.

I love the "what if" scenarios.

Like what if, instead of invading Iraq, we concentrated our efforts on Afghanistan, Al-Quaeda, the Taliban and snuffing Bin Laden and all his peeps out of the Afghan-Paki border.

Nevermind...that's crazytalk. Clearly the correct moves were made. America needs to STFU and stay the course. The course rules.

JW, I know, I know. I've said the same thing myself about 20,000 times now. We really had no rational reason to go into Iraq. I never believed the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice propaganda when it was in full force back in 2002. But, Powell has come out several times since then and said that he told the administraton, on many occasions, that 135,000 troops wouldn't get the job done. But, Rumsfeld wouldn't listen to him. We sent 575,000 troops in just to get saddam out of kuwait in 1991. I just wonder sometimes if things might have been different if they'd listend to Powell.

Nevermind, I'll sleep well tonight knowing that Barrack Obama has all the answers. Afterall, we know he has great advisors in Mr. Wright and Ayers. wink.gif

Tell me about it. That's why I support the man...cuz I know that they're intimately involved with his campaign and policy decisions. Without trusted advisors of their caliber, I flat-out couldn't trust the man.

So they blocked $2 million worth of spending to help rebuild Iraq? That's pennies in the grand scheme of things. Our country spends a billion dollars per day in defense for this pathetic, piece of shit war.

We never should have gone to Iraq.

I see you're still in denial JW. That's ok tho. Some people are still sticking by George W despite the obvious. Good thing is, Obama has no chance of winning at this point.

Even though we never should have gone to Iraq, we still can't just walk out and say "sorry folks, our mistake, best o'luck and sorry for the bloodbath that's about to ensue." We do have a moral obligation to help the people we just fuck'd for the sake of Haliburton.

I wouldn't liken myself (or Obama supporters in general) to the 27% of fools who are still down with Dubya. I understand that you're anti-Barack, and that's an opinion you're certainly entitled to, but to say he has "no chance of winning" is absurd when he's got more popular votes, delegates and states won than Clinton and polls ahead of McCain. http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/05/01/na...ven-with-obama/

I'm trying not to get too hardcore with the Presidential politics on this forum since I'm sure it'll be heating up (to say the least) after the conventions. Personally, I find your avatar offensive, but again...free country and you've got a right to express whatever opinions are rattling around in that dome of yours.

Someone help me out on this one.

If Iraq has so much oil then how come their country is a shithole compared to a Dubai which is also oil wealthy?

I was just thinkiing that he seems to be sinking lately with the Wright/Ayers flap. We'll see. It ain't getting pretty between the two of'em.

If my avy offends obama supporters then it was a good choice! Just messin' wid'ya broham. wink.gif

Good question Will about Iraq compared to Dubai. Iraq is complely 3rd world. If not for the oil, folks would still be living in tents and hearding goats. Many of them still are. It has about a 40% literacy rate and is fragmented in terms of ethnicity, religion, & language. It really only exists on paper. It was bundled up by the brits when they took over that area after the Ottomans fell post WWI. Dubai is controlled primarily by one family who are digging all the foreign wealth that's pouring in.

The Wright stuff will hopefully die down if the dude decides to quit his "eff you Obama!" media tour. As for Ayers...non-story. Such a non-story that the 24-hour cable media people don't even talk about it anymore.

I see what you mean though, about momentum, etc...the pendulum has been swinging in Hillary's favor the past couple weeks.

Will - Saddam and his boys were exploiting the oil over there, which is why they had mansions full of gold and the rest of the country was living in tents. It's similar to the appropriation of funds in Saudi Arabia. Since the US invaded though, it's been pretty damn close to civil war over there. Dubai has oil, like Iraq, except their not ruled by a brutal dictator and there's no anarchy or civil war.

Hmm. So you are saying that oil money which is billions of dollars is keeping that country afloat? I don't know but what could a typical Iraqi house cost? $50? Mud and dirt floors can't cost that much.

I guess when Saddam was in power he hoarded all of that cash.

What about now? Is the oil owned by their "government"? Where does all of that money go?

Honestly. I really wish all three of them would run on the ballet. It'd prolly be a 30/30/30 split. That says something, not sure what that is, but it does.

*Edit: Both Hillary and Obama are doing the Democratic party a favor by extending their preliminary bullshit. All this exposure is going to draw extra Democratic voters to the polls. I dunno. As a Repub, it's annoyed me more than anything into actually voting just out of spite. tongue.gif
