I am fucking sick and tired of being a nuclear medicine technologist. The regulations are fucking absurd. I get bombarded by radiation everyday. I love people, but, im tired of sliding immobile people on and off my imaging camera and hurting my fucking back. For what? decent money?

Is money everything?

How much does money mean to you?

Is a stressful job worth good money?

Is a less stressful job with less pay better in the long run?

talk amongst yourselves. Ill choose a topic..... JOBS YOU CANT FUCKING STAND ANYMORE mad.gif

Im becoming a CT correctional officer. Fuck nuclear medicine.

Me and my brother agree:

college is a scam

You go to school for years. Rack up 20-100K in bills. Then, you graduate, and make shit for money most likely. Now, how long is it gonna take to pay off "the man"???

fuck college

Only 2% of the population makes over 90K a year

Dont get me wrong, nuclear medicine is a great career if you can deal with regulations up the ass, and a ten fold increase in cancer risk. not that anyone gets cancer now a days..... rolleyes.gif

I am in my 3rd year of college and agree it is a huge scam, I am going the business route and most of my teachers tell me, "you are going to have to teach yourself most of this class", WTF why the hell am I in school if I have to teach myself, if I wanted to do that then I would just buy the books I needed read them and call it good. The only catch is if you play there stupid little game you get a piece of paper at the end that says bachelors degree in Business Admin. And then you are off to get a job that 800 other quilified people with the same degree are after.

I CALL SCAM.

BTW does anybody know why it is so hard to get into the Medical Field now a days?

Answer, if there are more Nurses and Dr. then that drives the pay for them down because there are more of them.

Posted by: Jayv24 Apr 22 2008, 11:06 PM
My girl graduated majoring in microbiology. Works in a medical lab injecting humanized cells into HIV infected mice to test new meds.

She makes $30k a year rolleyes.gif

She'll never make good money. Medical field is great if you're a PA or MD. Other than that, its shit.

management job opening in UDF hellz yeah

Posted by: Hello 2.0 Apr 23 2008, 07:55 AM
I agree college is a scam as well. I went to school for biochemistry only to realize I don't want to do anything with it. I've been applying to local police agencies around the area. I'd make significantly less doing it, but after my first three ride-alongs I can't see any other job making me as excited to wake up for.

All I need in life is:
1) house
2) food
3) gym
4) high speed internet

Posted by: yeashescool Apr 23 2008, 08:10 AM
the medical field is actually really good, its one of those careers that will always be growing, just depends on what u do in the field

I feel the same Joe, I spent all sorts of money on college then got out and theres no fucking jobs. It took me 2 years of working jobs that paid $10/hr with no health benefits to get where I am now, and for 6 months out of college I was unemployed.

And to tell you the truth I'm beginning to hate my job! Way to much stress for what I am paid.

If I hadn't had my foot in the door at my family's biz, I would most likely have moved to Chicago, St. Louis... somewhere in the midwest. I'm family-oriented. Making 100k in Chicago isn't as sweet as making 60k here at home. wink.gif

I envy you Joe for having the balls to say "fuck it, I ain't gonna be a slave to a certian paycheck or my degree anymore." I hate my job as well and I wouldn't mind taking a slight cut just to be happier going to work everyday. Although, I don't know if I'd want to be a corrections ociffer. I would like to find something where I don't feel like I'm just working to get a paycheck.

I don't agree college is a scam. I make good money doing something I love, that I couldn't do without college.

Posted by: Hello 2.0 Apr 23 2008, 12:31 PM
I disagree. There is nothing you learned in college that you couldn't have learned from a book. In fact, that's all college is is learning from a book. Then once you've jumped through all their hoops you get a piece of paper that says you are worth something.

I bet everything you do in your job you could have learned in an apprenticeship program. You really use civial war history, math, and psychology for your profession? I don't think so, yet they make you take those classes no matter what your degree is in. Waste of money and time that could be spent learning something that you'll actually do in your career.

I understand the point you are trying to make, but I disagree. You may not directly use some of things you have learned, but don't think that it doesn't influence every action you take in life. Everything I know about history, science, math, art, sports, etc. ALL come into play one way or another.

I guess my point is that everything that a person learns sways his/her frame of reference and/or 'world view'... even if not directly pertaining to a given situation (as you stated history w/ sports training). I may not use Civil War statistics directly, but my knowledge of what happened and things like that sway the way I view current events - just an example.

The more I go to church, the more I realize all you need is:

1. food
2. water
3. love
4. enough money to provide your family

you really dont NEED anything other than that. everything else is gravy. infact, more money, more problems.

Of course assfit disagrees with my first post laugh.gif

But yeah, Im saying if you go to school for 4 years, pay 20K a year for school, that is 80K in debt.

If you make 40K a year to start, just how long will it take just to pay that money back?????

think about it.

college is a fucking scam.

True, it's no coincidence, most poor uneducated people, who win the lottery, eventually go broke. And educated people can make money, even in tough economic times.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the fuckers in line for lotto tickets are ALL poor and/or uneducated? Yes, I'm basing this on looks, demeanor, and sometimes smell.

I've never seen a person in a suit and tie buy a lotto ticket. Yes, I'm sure there are many exceptions (I give out handfuls of scratch-offs to family and friends at Christmas parties just for fun)... I'm just noting a general trend that I have noticed.

Actually if you check the stats it is the poor and minorities that play the lotto the most.

I don't think it would take a hard look at statistics to see the wellness of those who have college degrees vs. those that have just a HS diploma and/or a 'vo-tech' education.

It's about being well-rounded... that's where college comes in. No, I don't want to have my heart surgery performed by a doctor who's only secondary education came from some type of 'apprenticeship'.

I hope all of you naysayers encourage your kids to go to college. Seriously.

All you would learn, from the apprenticeship is what to do, but not why. Besides isn't that what college, basically is? An extended apprenticeship under many tutors?

Hmmm...as far as college being a scam and being up to your eyeballs in debt, in the words of Eric Cartman "You can suck my balls!"

4 years in the military, none the worse for wear, indefinitely more disciplined, $40,000 for college with some classes already done for free.

however there are many blue collar good paying jobs that require a lot less school and some of the jobs are pretty cool.

Specifics you'd have to talk to a recruiter about, but as is my understanding a bachelors degree is a bachelors degree. Whether its in nuclear physics or underwater basketweaving. Obviously a degree in your job would be helpful though being in a managerial position of an officer. Check it out man, good pay, guaranteed paychecks twice a month, free healthcare, "travel", etc. Only downside is putting up with military bullshit.

WOw this is depressing- there are tons of jobs for everyone- you just have to realize what it is your good at and then go for it- not think what you should be or what someone expects you to be and force yourself down that path.

Just Do it- get it done-

words to live by.

True, and most of them are douches anyways. Mine was a huge fucking nerd. They have quotas too.
