No, but I would if you were an apprentice working and learning under a heart surgeon for 5-6 years. I didn't mention just learning from books. I also mentioned a vo-tech approach to school. |
I don't think it would take a hard look at statistics to see the wellness of those who have college degrees vs. those that have just a HS diploma and/or a 'vo-tech' education. It's about being well-rounded... that's where college comes in. No, I don't want to have my heart surgery performed by a doctor who's only secondary education came from some type of 'apprenticeship'. I hope all of you naysayers encourage your kids to go to college. Seriously.

All you would learn, from the apprenticeship is what to do, but not why. Besides isn't that what college, basically is? An extended apprenticeship under many tutors?

You can be an officer if you've got a degree already. Officers don't do shit, hence OFFICE-er. Basically you're the boss.
|
does that only apply to certain degree's?
|
Specifics you'd have to talk to a recruiter about, but as is my understanding a bachelors degree is a bachelors degree. Whether its in nuclear physics or underwater basketweaving. Obviously a degree in your job would be helpful though being in a managerial position of an officer. Check it out man, good pay, guaranteed paychecks twice a month, free healthcare, "travel", etc. Only downside is putting up with military bullshit.
