New job....

So, i started a new job, the pay is great... 90k per year etc.

Its a sales position, so that's assuming that i make my commitment. Here's my issue - it's 14 hours a day and saturdays so, like 72 hours per week or more.

I could almost deal with it but it is taking away my gym time and making me not want to go because im so tired. Suggestions?

The other problem is that they refuse to let me have an hour for lunch. 1/2 the compensation is salaried so they are not required to give me a state mandated lunch. So i've been taking shit for eating lunch everyday. Now, im a bit of a dick because im from Detroit so clearly i have no problems standing up for myself. I've vehemently disagreed with the no lunch thing and told all my superiors that i would be taking a lunch no matter what they said, because that's the way i roll.

Any suggestions?

The pay sounds good but you know as well as everyone else on here that money ain't everything. I would be happy with 60k a year if that meant I would have more time for the gym and my personal life. Working 12 hour days in bullshit and I wouldn't do it for 100k. Fuck'em... take your lunch or even better... look for a sales position that respects work/life balance.

Ahh yes sales jobs. And yes the days are LONG and working weekends is to be expected. Its very stressful, Ill tell you that now. No, Im not in sales, but have been offered it many a times, and say no everytime after watching the sales guys at work.

Its very up and down, so be ready for that rollercoaster ride. Some weeks youll bank, and some youll struggle, so dont get too down on yourself if you ever start doubtin your skills. Stick to what you know.

Every job I have worked in, right from the start I tell them that my life style and eating habits require me to eat every 2-1/2 to 3 hours. And to work in a positive attitude It would be just to allow me to continue my proper life style, thank them for their concern and cooperation. Also science and facts back up that eating frequently produces more energy through the body keeping a human body focused and alert.

Now say that and let me know what they say. wink.gif

My old man is in the car sale business. Works his ass off from like 7:30am to 8pm Monday through Friday and some Saturdays. Its horse shit but he makes a good income and when hes not sleeping on Sunday, he has some time to have fun.

Dude...I see both sides here, but you're a human being and you've gotta eat. Whether you bounce to grab something or bring food in and eat it at your desk, you can't not eat. Stock up on cold cuts, loaves of bread and protein bars broski. Keep a desk drawer full of em.

Oh yeah, and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TROhlThs9qY

Well taking an IB job you'll work that much but get better pay and a much higher bonus

finance you'll even have to pull all nighters 1-2 a month considering the cycle

Are you that type of person?

Managers are just that- people who can manage

if your superiors see that you're doing a great job- and pulling in contracts- you're eating habits will
be over looked.

But if you get someone who abuse's his status- then they may try to make examples out of you.
