I tried one pill of Ultimate Nutrition GABA last night before I went to bed, 750mg, and about a half hour/1hour later I felt my heart racing then slowing down, then racing again like it was going to pop out of my chest or something.. I thought this was supposed to help you sleep.. Should I take it in the daytime instead, or should I discontinue using it? Any help would be great

I've used GABA for a long time and never had irregular heartbeat as a reaction to it. Did you take a lot of stimulants over the course of the day?

I had CEE a few hours before, which I took tonight and noticed it made me heat up I guess, but not the chest pounding I had last night. Maybe the creatine was the cause

Take it before you go to bed, but you need to lower your dose. I take the bulk version and if I take a full teaspoon I get shortness of breath and increased heart rate, but at half a teaspoon just a little flush warm feeling than to sleep like a baby.

Yes, this is common. You're either super sensitive to it, or you arn't very heavy, because 750mg isn't very much. I usually have to take 3-4g before I get this feeling. It usually passes after 5-10 minutes or so.

Your tolerance will build quickly, and you shouldn't feel like that after a while. I wouldn't bother to buy a lower dose, as GABA isn't cheap.

Take 30 minutes to an hour before sleep, or longer depending on your metabolism and how long it takes affect. I'd wait till the sensation subsides before attempting to sleep.

On a related topic, I sent for free samples of Millennium Sports sups (from the free samples thread), and they sent Somnidren GH. MAN, that stuff hit me so fast, and I felt so light headed and my heart was beating so fast I couldn't even stand! Too bad it's so expensive!

Hey thanks for the replies guys, so I ordered this as a sleep supplement, but also I read it is good for human growth hormone, anyways, I am 165 pounds 5'11 21yrs old and I box/muay thai and do resistance training and biking, no real heavy lifting but is this good to take still even if i'm not a bodybuilder?

I wouldn't buy into the HGH thing. Natural HGH boosting sups may boost HGH temporarily, but they havn't been shown to change body composition. So basically, they can't raise HGH high enough for long enough to make any difference.

If it helps you sleep, it's worth it in my book. Sleep is essential for muscle growth and repair, so anything that can give you longer/better sleep would be worth it. If you have the money to put towards it. It's not exactly cheap.

Personally, muscle relaxers work the best for me wink.gif

so far, i've noticed really good sleep from taking two Melatonin 3g pills which contains theanine, as well as Z-Force/ZMA. I just took another GABA to test out one more time, I will report tomorrow if it had any positive effect but so far my chest is sort of hurting/uneasy feeling like the last time, I will wait for it to go away before sleeping.

GABA is a neurotransmitter which can help your body to release a slight amount of extra growth hormone, but not enough to be very useful. The tingling, shortness of breath, flushing, racing of heart, etc... are all common with this supplement. However, I wouldn't recommend taking large amounts of this supplement.

Take a lower dosage.. This is common. I remember the first time I took over 1000mg of gaba powder and I had this feeling.. I started freaking out. It passes after a few minutes of hell but you feel like your skin is crawling and rapid heart beat and all. Now it takes well over 3000mg for that effect.
