Haha Shakes told ya!!! In your face!!! |
Yeah, yeah, whateva. I love pullups. I do them everyday (on 'off' days as a warmup). I do wide, narrow, use towels, alternate grips, front of head, behind head, etc. It just feels manly to bust out a full set of pullups (10+ reps) at the drop of a hat.

huh??? like lots of pullups=fast 40 yard dash?!?
please explain.....
|
Indirect correlations. Like if you had a squad of a dozen people, those with the highest average endurance/strength/ speed are going to have the best numbers overall. So a person who is able to do the most pullups usually has the most overall and thus probably would have higher scores in other things. OMG, wow. So smart the folks here are. /Yoda

so you're saying that people who can do the most pullups are gonna be faster than people who can squat or deadlift more? obviously conditioning is systemic, but i don't think this one exercise is gonna be the best possible indicator here. i kow that the squat has the highest correlation to vertical leap. therefore, i'm not too inclined to believe this, but hey, i could be wrong. clearly i'm not a Jedi yet.....

That's exactly my point. Indirect correlationship. It's like saying, "This group of people is overweight because they eat twice as much as these underweight folks." Sure, statistics could prove this, but you're missing variable data like that of a bodybuilder. Just because a person eats two times as much doesn't always mean they're going to be overweight. Just because I can do 90 pullups doesn't directly mean I'm going to have the fastest 40. Just because I can squat 400 lbs doesn't mean I'll have a vert of more than 4". There's only a general fitness relationship --or an indirect correlation in statistical terms. Make sense?

160lbs |
Have you ever tried weighted pullups? If your doing that many with BW hang a few kilo's off your belt and blow your back up.
|
No ive not tried these yet!
Ive been meaning to get a belt for ages but never got round to doing it!
|
I'm about to get one of those belts. I'll use them for dips and pull-ups but really look forward to doing some belt squats. http://www.prowriststraps.com/dipping_belt
