It seems like most profs either go from left leaning (i.e. JDub) to far left cooks (i.e. supertzar), with more on the latter end. But someone who is right leaning would have very little chance of making it in academia (i.e. group think).

While I agree that most people with higher levels of education and/or people who make a living in higher education tend to lean left, I'd disagree with the notion that right-leaning folks wouldn't have a "chance of making it" in academia.

The implication there is that academic institutions discriminate against qualified professors who don't hold liberal political views. It's an assertion that is (unless you can enlighten me) unsubstantiated.

I'd have to dig a bit for the specific details. But, I do know of several cases of prestigious universidads where leftist profs have dealt out failing grades for writting papers that go against the prof's leftest views. I've also heard it is almost impossible to get a grant at some of the top institutions to do honest/unbiased research on man made global warming.

I know this is simple anecdotal stuff. I might dig later on for some specifics.

Grading papers differently based on political view and allocating public funding for climate change research are another matter, although still nothing more than alleged. The claim you made earlier was that qualified right-leaning professors don't have the same "chance to make it" at the university level.
