heard on sirius...shireen the lady who writes for the startelegram says that jones isn't looking too trade up to the top 5 spots for mcfadden and that he doesn't look for getting a WR in the first round....and wants to trade one of the firsts for a vet WR like bolden or roy williams....she mentioned chad johnson but that wont happen......cards and lions say they wont deal...but think about it lions have a #1 in calvin johnson, williams is gonna be a free agent next yr ...so why not get something out of him b/c you know roy wont stay....and even though the lions say the are not dealing doesn't mean they are telling the truth...they said the same shit w/ sean rogers....but i can't see it taking place....b/c we gotta work on pacman before the draft and that which is a lot of negotiating in such little time w/ the cap space we have so..not only all that but we would have to re-do some deals...but pretty interesting report

Alan can put up 225lbs more times (18) than Darren McFadden (13)

In basketball news, Kevin Durant can bench 225 exactly -2 times.

what you mean wait for him to be cut....that may actually happen....i don't think goodel would want a bidding war for pacman though b/c i don't think he wants the DEM of the NFL to get more money than what he's worth...due to his risk.....also our cap room isn't the greatest so if it come to a bidding war on a risky player more than likely we wont get him....bc after all we have to sign two first round rookies which isn't cheap...

true if it goes that way, better not hope other teams wanna through money at him b/c i don't think jerrah wants to drop loads on him....and the way corners have been gett'n paid here lately whoooo....jaque reeves 5yr 20mil...can't even cover him self w/ a blanket ....so if it's a bidding war it would be more than that amount of cash

LOL ...also Tank on the squad ...thank god keith davis is gone b/c he would prolly wound up shot in the head again....

it's weird sean taylor gets shot in the leg and dies and keith davis gets shot in the head and lives?

taylor pretty much got shot up through the groin bro, damaging a major nerve

yeah hit a major artery....but getting shot and the head and living is that common?...it actually maybe more common than what i think

thats odd, but come to think of it, the guy who runs the gym desk, got shot in the head and is fine, just has a pimp walk now, but its deff rare to live thru something liek that

yeah i respect sean taylor, just odd how things work ...

The Superbowl Champion New York Giants schedule looks pretty easy at first, then gets harder as the year goes on. I could definitely see us going 10-6 again.

anyone else see the Patriots got handed the easiest schedule this year? With their opponents having a combined .397 win percentage AND the only schedule who's opponents did not combine to break 100 wins...

I don't ever wanna hear anyone talk about how "good" they are this season, or ever again for that matter until they get a decent schedule, if they manage to go undefeated again this season I'll be furious.

remember that miami counts for 2-30 the jets twice a year also with the 6th pick cant be too far off.

As far as the gmen...10-6 is the best i could see them finish. Hats off on the superbowl but i could easily see them not make the playoffs his year.

I don't get what that first part was about, are you thinking their draft choices might make them formidable? Barring a freak of nature like Adrian Peterson, there's not gonna be a major turn around from rookies, especially not for teams as deep in shit as the Jets and Dolphins.

true, but then you end up with some of the Patriot fans who go 16-0 regular season whining cause the playoff field is too open and leaving it open for a team with a worse record to be league champions.

Like it or not, the NFC is shaping back up. Packers swept their AFC opponents last year.

I would say its getting closer..but theres still a pretty good margin. The afc has 6-8 serious teams while the nfc has maybe 2-3. It really suprizes me that theres such a differance in leauges in all the pro sports considering free agency.

AFC - AL - West > NFC - NL - EAST

eagles 8-8 with a real strong finish plus asante samue ...

really nfc 2-3 blink.gif who?

al west....

you got the chargers

but then

cheifs.... don't even have a quarterback and are pretty much rebuilding
raiders ... pretty shitty...even though al davis spent a lot of money this off season...they will be lucky still to get to 500

broncos... actually can be a playoff contender...but they are good one game and horrible another....not very consistant from what i saw last yr

nfc east though is a battle every division game and every team is a rivial w/ each other still....no joke teams like raiders or cheifs in the division

Posted by: Regulator Apr 17 2008, 12:19 PM
i was listing nfl mlb and nba..

the only teams i could see make a serious push out of the nfc are the cowgirls, giants (simply bc they won it last year), and then who...

Posted by: cc-10 Apr 17 2008, 01:11 PM
really?...what about the packers...even w/o farve they still got a killer defence...solid recievers and rodgers has had time to learn the system

Philly...started off the season really shitty due to injuries..especially mcnabb...at the end of the season you can tell he was getting comfortable on that knee...almost beat the patz...and finished the season 8-8 in a tough division...signed asante and if they hit in the draft could be a huge threat

Seatle, was lacking a running game last year and sign ducket and jones this season...this is either hit or miss b/c the ceiling is high for jones..but is not living up to his potential .....and ducket is a power back so it may work out ...if it does the squaks will be dangerous ....

remember the vikes last yr....ap...barely missed the playoffs...signed benard berrian....solid oline and only thing that is iffy on their team is the qb position w/ tavaris jackson, but with some experience should be able to make a little bit better desisions...

Packers O over acheived last year big time, the d is pretty solid though

philly is so inconsistant is hard to say anything about them, i think they need to can reid, they still have NOBODY at wr

Seahawks added two shitty running backs..far from impressive

tavaris jackson is all i need to say about the vikes

in all honesty i cant see any of those team besides philly if they get hot making a run. Esp not compared to the bolts colts pats steelers jags hell id take the browns and titans over those 4

Packers produced a 1,000+ yard rusher in half a season and had the most YAC from receivers all season. Not to mention like 3rd in total passing yards and if we'd had Ryan Grant to start the season we'd have probably been close to having a 2,000 yard rusher.

In all honesty, the only position on the team I was ever really concerned about was Favre. Over the last 4-5 seasons he's been the make or break, the rest of the team, especially in '07 was very consistent. 2/3 of our losses came from games where Favre performed poorly (Cowboys! and Bears #2)

NFC I'd say the Cowboys, Packers, Giants, Saints (if they get their act together)

AFC is Patriots, Chargers, Colts, Jaguars, maybe Steelers

AFC just SEEMS a lot better because they have two exceptionally dominant teams in the Colts and Patsies.

technically yeah, but i really don't get into college FB all that much since it's just so lopsided in most games. So I didn't know anything about AJ when they drafted him other than "damn that fucker looks scary... he should be good." laugh.gif

and the bears? c'mon now don't go and undermine your credibility that badly. The bears run to the super bowl was the definition of a fluke season. If teams would just suck it up and take the illegal procedure penalty on every kickoff and punt out of bounds, the bears wouldn't score more than 6 points per game. Plus they've shot themselves in the foot this offseason by letting Berrian go and to my astonishment, resigning Rex Grossman. That kid has to have some fucked up pictures of the GM stashed somewhere to still be in the NFL at all. ph34r.gif

Yup...it's a whole article about his downfall. Dude had a "water bag" full of Goose that he brought everywhere.

Didn't wanna train in front of anyone cuz he was so lazy and got insecure about how out-of-shape he was. Told his trainer to just get him "the good stuff...the stuff David Boston got." laugh.gif

Devin Thomas, WR Michigan State to Washington Redskins at No. 21:
The Redskins could use a safety, especially with the loss of Sean Taylor. But they decide to pass on Kenny Phillips to address their need for a receiver. Michigan State's Devin Thomas is a big target who will compliment Santana Moss perfectly.

Devin Thomas, WR Michigan State to Dallas Cowboys at No.28:
The Cowboys would love to make a deal to move up near the top of the draft to select McFadden but that probably won't happen. Instead, they will address another pressing offensive need by taking Thomas.

- The Dallas Cowboys are hoping to find Antoine Cason (Arizona) on the board with the 22nd pick in the first round. We also hear the team likes Brandon Flowers (Virginia Tech) as a physical man-to-man corner. Cornerbacks in a 3-4 defense must be able to man-up, with so much emphasis being placed on the pass rush.

The Vikings, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, surrendered their first-round pick in the 2008 draft and both third-round selections for Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen.

The Chiefs will now add the No. 17, No. 73, and No. 82 overall selections to the No. 5, No. 35, and No. 66 picks, giving them six selections among the first 100 picks.

He's not. Ppl. here HATE Carl Peterson and were calling for his head after last season. If they're smart this time, the Chiefs can definitely get themselves rebuilt much faster than anyone thought.

Being that this draft is pretty deep w/ offensive line talent, they could get their line in shape pretty easily and maybe pick up a good qb or another good receiver to compliment Bowe. Croyle doesn't look like the answer long term at qb and Huard is getting old. A retooled line would protect whoever qb's and reinvigorate Johnson.

Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 26 2008, 06:15 PM
Giants with a no-brainer...Kenny Phillips from The U. Fills the Safety void left by Gibril Wilsons depature and he's a flat out sick talent.

Cowboys fans seem to not like that Felix RB guy....Alan, cc, whaddya think?

Posted by: Bryan60275 Apr 26 2008, 06:25 PM
seems like a lot of linemen going in the 1st round... interesting. Also, Packers don't take a single selection in the 1st round... interesting. Ted Thompson must not be overly impressed with anyone in this draft class, at least that we could have taken at 30th spot.

I would be curious to see the Cowboy's salary cap numbers, they have to be well on their way to pushing it.

I'm pretty happy w/ the Steelers draft. They got some really good value w/ their 1st two picks falling to them. They still have need on both lines, but they're pretty good about picking up below the radar talent among undrafted rookie free agents (Willie arker and James Harrison).

AFC North should be interesting to watch this yr. Cleveland should be pretty good and who knows w/ Cinci w/ all the drama they've had.

GIANTS TO GET SUPERBOWL RINGS THURSDAY NIGHT IN TIMES SQUARE

user posted image

The New York Giants will get their final reward for winning the Super Bowl when they are given their championship rings.

The private ceremony will be held Thursday night at Tiffany and Co. It will bring an end to a four-month celebration that followed the Giants' stunning 17-14 win over the previously unbeaten New England Patriots in the Super Bowl on Feb. 3 in Glendale, Ariz.

In the ensuing days, coach Tom Coughlin and his team were given a ticket-tape parade in New York City, followed by a celebration at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The Giants took a trip to the White House for a visit with President Bush in late April.

Now come the rings.

The white gold sparklers have about 1.5 carats in diamonds and feature the team's three Super Bowl trophies — signifying the Giants' Super Bowl XXI, XXV and XLII victories.

The NFL Network has hired Giants play-by-play radio announcer Bob Papa to replace Bryant Gumbel in the TV booth.

The surprise is that Tom Hammond didn't get the job, but either way this will be a monster upgrade. Papa also calls HBO's Boxing After Dark and hosts the Opening Drive on Sirius NFL Radio with Peter King and Randy Cross.

The Vikes should have no problems in the NFC North. That defense is going to be fucking scary.

They can have a deep, deep play off run, it just depends on how T-Jack plays...

you think he would play a lot better...he did better in the tail end of the season...he just needs to manage the game and not make bad choices...and make a play here and there b/c there defense oline...runing backs are stacke and they are better at the WR position....i was big on sidney rice comming out of the draft last year...i drafted him in madden(ps2) i liked him so much

Most of us hope he gets a concussion in week one and get play ever again.

John David Booty is the future, ha.

That or Gus Fuerot.

All in all, if he can get the ball to a receiver, the defense will have to spread out and AP will destroy.

Robert Hobbs, Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan: Now that Terry Glenn has been waived, rumors are starting to circulate that the Cowboys will seek Joe Horn or Chris Henry. Bringing in Henry would be ridiculous and Horn is on the wrong side of being good. Not sure he can push Patrick Crayton as the No. 2. I say, "Don't push the panic button," and that one of the young wide receivers will step up (see Hurd, Stanback, or someone else). What is your take?

Mickey: Again, I just go back to last season. The Cowboys did fine disguising Glenn's absence as long as Owens was healthy. You guys, don't forget Jason Witten. Remember, he does not catch 96 passes last year with Glenn on the field. He essentially is the No. 2 receiver. And, I guarantee you the presence of Felix Jones on the field in certain situations will more than draw coverage off of Owens. Think about it, with Jones and Witten on the field, would you gamble on your linebackers being able to cover them in pass patterns? Or, do you want a safety up there for that and rely on your corners to deal with Owens in man?

But Hurd has made a considerable effort to gain weight since the Cowboys signed him as rookie free agent back in 2006. This time two years ago, Hurd stepped off the plane in Oxnard weighing 193 pounds. Now he checks in around 205, having added a noticeable 10-14 pounds of muscle to his upper body

Barber's Big Hit

The Hard Knocks camera crews may be all over the field, but the hardest knock Thursday came from starting running back Marion Barber.

Barber de-cleated linebacker Tyson Smith with a hard helmet-to-helmet block in a pass rushing drill. It took Smith a good 30 seconds to pick himself off the ground, effectively ending the drill.

"I think Tyson will be out (Friday)," said head coach Wade Phillips.

Earlier in the drill, Smith put a good hit on Barber that sent him to the ground, but Barber isn't the kind to get knocked down and stay there.

"It was bound to come back around," said fullback Deon Anderson, who said he's never had a block like that in his year of NFL experience. Anderson also said that Barber curls with 65-pound dumbbells nightly in his room, along with working on his "punch."

But according to Smith, it was more than a punch.

"It was just a helmet-to-helmet hit, and I kind of blacked out for a second," said Smith, who spent part of last year on the practice squad. "(Barber) got me underneath and I was a little high. He had a little motivation on the second one. I beat him the first time and he beat me real bad the second time."

The Cowboys other running backs aren't nearly as skilled as Barber when it comes to blocking, Phillips said, so that drill will be used more often.

"We're going to work some one-on-ones with the backs against the backers," Phillips said. "I thought our young backs did a pretty good job for the first time really going through it."

Secondary coach Dave Campo said safety Roy Williams has been as aggressive the first week of camp as he has ever seen him. That’s just what Williams promised after a tumultuous off-season when he was criticized from inside and outside the locker room.

"I am just trying to go get it," Williams said. "I told you it was going to be a different season this year, and that’s what it’s going to be."
