You look great. You should do very well in your contest.
Looks like you live right by me.

What city you in man? and you for sure should do a competition, just diet down it should be fun. No idea how I will do, just doing it for experience and hopefully place well.

I've been dieting for months. Leanest I have been in a long time. Somewhere around 6%. When I can I will post a pic.

you've got good quad sweep and shoulder development... but you need over all thickness... but for your age its good... I would do some major bulking after your contest.

hit the basics and thicken up.

I actually had a lot of fun, even though I didn't sleep Friday night at all and was nervous the whole day. We didn't start our routines til midnight on Saturday... needless to say I was dead tired. This competition was MUCH tougher than the previous Contra Costas. There were 17 people in the light heavyweight class, meaning we all had to do two call outs which is SO tiring.

A good way to tell the competition was a lot tougher was the fact that I placed 2 places above the guy who got 2nd last year. He ended up getting 9th and looked exactly as he did the year before so all that changed was the competitors.

I kinda had a bad draw because on the first call out I was in between the Overall winner and the 2nd place winner lol. And as you can conclude, if you are near a well conditioned/developed physique it is going to make you look worse compared to being next to a less conditioned and developed physique. Unfortunately I happened to be sandwiched between the two best lol.

The 2nd place light heavy actually competed in a Pro qualifier, the one where Phil Heath earned his pro card. Pretty intense! Majority of these guys were over 30 and have done multiple competitions as I already predicted.

I did as expected after seeing the line for the weigh ins. My weight ended up being 191.5, a 26 lbs drop in 7 weeks. I would bet anything that if I dieted for 12 -15 weeks I would have ended up in the top 5 no doubt, but for only dieting for 7 I placed 7 out of 17th which I am not disappointed in what so ever. Again, my goal in this competition was to learn, placing was not important (would be fun to place high but not a priority to me at this point in my journey).

It was pretty much as I expected and came away with what I was hoping to achieve, and that was experience. My goal as of now is to lean bulk for 2 years and find a couple competitions at the end of 2010 and get no less than 1st. I will not be competing as a light heavyweight ever again, as my goal is to be much larger so trying to get 1st next year in the light heavy means nothing to me really.

Anyway, here are the comparison pictures, I'm wearing the maroon trunks if you can't recognize me. Oh yea, learned another thing about competitions: you look a lot fatter/smaller on stage than you do in person or back stage. Even the top 5 in my class looked SO much better backstage than these pictures, I don't quite understand why but these stage lights are BRUTAL. Live and learn, name of the game at this point.

One more thing, I noticed how small my frame actually is next to other similar sized competitors. Muscle mass wise I am holding my own, but my bone structure and frame is smaller. No biggie, tons of pros have small frames, just gotta fill it out.

Good shit bro, Light Heavies are definitely one of the more popular groups.

No matter how you did, you still look good up there, not out of place or anything for how short of a time you've been hitting the weights.

On top of that placing better than the dude that got 2nd last year is really good. I mean imagine getting 2nd and being pumped to go back and win a year later, then losing to a guy in his first ever comp. That just shows you got what it takes to keep going.

Do you think you could have went lighter or would you have lost too much muscle?

Thanks man, it was definitely a good time and learned a lot. I could have TOTALLY went lighter, might have lost a bit more muscle but conditioning is what wins these for sure. I would almost bet anything if I dieted down to 186 or so I could have taken 3rd. My leg mass was some of the best on the stage, and if I pulled all the fat off of em they would look awesome.

You look good dude, but you can see why you got beat...legs need more size (specially hams) and you need more seperation in them, but overall, not bad at all, you should be happy.

Ya hams for sure, and calves. I want to grow everywhere but some things need to catch up. The next two years should help fill me out quite a bit.

good job on the competition vap.. You did pretty good for the time you have been lifting.. Def take the next two years to get as big as you can, then take another shot at it. Like you said this was a great learning experience, that most will never be able to say they have done.
