| Sorry CC to steal the baseball thread but its a new season! Liriano's back on the mound after Tommy John surgery and reports say he's doing awesome. Hopefully an up and coming replacement for Santana. Twins have some great talent this year, just need to stay consistent. |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Mar 9 2008, 07:45 PM |
| Josh Beckett is listed as day-to-day after he tweaked his back during a recent game. |

| never followed preseason in my life. April is when i start it up. I do know Wong got lit up though. How church n the 2B doing after the collision for the mets? |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Mar 9 2008, 07:53 PM | ||
Dunno. I bet WillP would know. I usually don't follow preseason either but I've been interested to see how the newbs are doing after the Santana trade. |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 9 2008, 07:55 PM |
| I think Church is ok. He was playing in the game I saw yesterday. |
| Posted by: potential87 Mar 9 2008, 07:56 PM | ||||
Oh yeah thats true. Liriano will be nice for you guys. I liked him his rookie year. He wont replace santana now, especially since Santana is in the weaker league. He'll be like Zues throwin down some lighting bolts. |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Mar 9 2008, 08:06 PM |
| Yeah he's still got lots of refining to do but he's probably got the most potential of any new pitcher right now. He had to change his delivery after his surgery so hopefully he can get dialed in. |
| Posted by: potential87 Mar 9 2008, 08:07 PM |
| he's still young im sure he can. its not like hes 35 tryin to just hold on for 2 more years. |

| I think the Mets have as much of chance as a chicken does around Pedro Martinez |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 10 2008, 09:58 AM |
| That's why they're favored to win the World Series below the Red Sox. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 10 2008, 10:05 AM |
| According to who? Vegas has the D-Backs as the NL team with the best odds. |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 10 2008, 10:13 AM |
| I read a column about it last week. I can't find it now and can't get into any gambling websites here at work otherwise I'd post the odds. If you can find the WS odds post them here. The D-Backs were 22-1 which the guy wrote was a good pick. Mets were 4-1. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 10 2008, 10:55 AM | ||
Was it a NY newspaper? Why would the Mets be a much better odds winner. They won less games last year then the D-Backs, and the Snakes added another Cy Young candidate. |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 10 2008, 10:57 AM |
| No it was online on Yahoo in the MLB section of sports. Don't know who the guy was. Tigers were 5-1. Dude, I don't make the odds. I'm just saying what I read. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 10 2008, 01:05 PM |
| I think either the Tigers or the Sox will win the ALCS |

Twins fan? Fuck yeah!!!! I have my tickets for opening night at the Metrodome already. I was front row in left field last year for opening night, pretty tits won't lie. A buddy of mines family has season tickets that are front row in the visitors bull pen, awesome view. Here are a few shots I got: ![]() ![]() |

| I'll be taking some trips to the dome as well this year, hopefully postseason too! |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 10 2008, 02:07 PM |
| The Twins are a well run organization. They are always playoff contenders despite a low payroll year after year. I don't think they've exceeded 60 million for a payroll in a long time |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 10 2008, 02:18 PM |
| Let's see how well they compete without Hunter and Santana. |
| Posted by: Regulator Mar 10 2008, 02:21 PM | ||
say hello to the reason you shouldnt bet on baseball in this forum. |
| Posted by: cc-10 Mar 10 2008, 02:55 PM | ||
lol it's alright ive been getting ready for the draft and for got about baseball |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Mar 10 2008, 03:54 PM | ||
Hunter was good but definitely not a go-to guy offensively. Santana on the other hand will be hard to replace. I think Morneau, Mauer, Young, and Cuddyer will be a solid offensive base. Liriano on the mound and Nathan the closer.....SHIIIIIIIIIIIIT. |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 10 2008, 03:58 PM |
| If Liriano bombs then they're in trouble. I'm interested to see how Humber does. I like him. |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Mar 10 2008, 06:18 PM |
| Yeah hopefully at least one of the newbs will turn out good. That'll go down as the worst trade in history if they all suck. That and when they traded Big Papi for......who again? |
| Posted by: potential87 Mar 10 2008, 09:27 PM | ||
yeah but did he grow as a red sock? i thought he was average and then sprouted with boston. Where as the twins let go of one of the best |

| Here you go Azfit... http://www.bodoglife.com/sports-betting/baseball-futures.jsp Odds to win 2008 World Series: D-backs - 18/1 Red Sox - 4/1 Mets - 9/2 Yankees - 13/2 Pirates - 150/1 for you Alan! Twins - 50/1 Tigers - 11/2 Cubs - 14/1 Dodgers - 14/1 Angels - 11/1 |
| Posted by: Alan115396 Mar 10 2008, 11:46 PM | ||
Those are good odds I'll put a nickel on it ![]() |
| Posted by: Cdubya Mar 10 2008, 11:54 PM |
| I just believe trading Santana really hurts the twins because of the pressure that will be on Liriano for his first season back..Like mentioned before, if he doesn't pitch well we're in trouble.. Really liking D Young right now though.. |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Mar 11 2008, 06:52 AM | ||||
This is true. Papi really didn't blow up until Boston. CDub - Young's looking good. I think they've got a dangerous offense this year. If Monroe can get his act together then they'll be stacked. |
| Posted by: Jake Varner Mar 11 2008, 03:24 PM | ||
I really hope they put him in the bullpen to start the year off. Let him pitch to two to four batters a few times a week to make sure they don't blow his arm out again. If the Twins bats are what they were in 2006, I don't think I will be too worried. No one hit in 2007. Morneau, Mauer, Cuddyer, Punto, and Bartlet all had down years. They also had no production from the DH and left fielder. Its kind of hard to win with that happening. Hopefully Craig Monroe hits 25-30 homers while playing DH and left. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 12 2008, 09:41 AM | ||||
Actually for the Pirates those aren't bad odds. |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 12 2008, 10:47 AM |
| Azfit, will Randy Johnson make it through April? Spring training even? |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 12 2008, 11:14 AM |
| He did fine is his 1st start. He had surgery almost a year ago, and has had lots of rehab. He needs 17 wins to get to 300, I'm guessing he wants them bad. Plus I think he wants to get to 5000k's. |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Mar 12 2008, 11:15 AM | ||
How close is he to 5K? |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 12 2008, 11:21 AM |
| He has 4616 K's so I'm guessing at least 2 more seasons |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 12 2008, 11:30 AM |
| Maybe the offense can help him out this year. It sucked ass last year. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 12 2008, 11:33 AM |
| Offense in the NL sucked last year period. |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 12 2008, 11:44 AM | ||
The Mets offense didn't!! hahaha Anyway here's that original article I told you about regarding the odds. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AroglqjbtCym5MROWmSEfogRvLYF?slug=anonbettingmansworldseri&prov=tsn&type=lgns "Arizona. With or without Randy Johnson, this team has an imposing rotation. There isn’t a better 1-2 punch in baseball than Brandon Webb and Dan Haren, and with those guys at the top of the playoff rotation, Arizona would be brutal to face in October. Getting to the playoffs might be a problem, though. The bullpen has been reshuffled, with Jose Valverde gone to Houston and Brandon Lyon taking over closing duties. The offense was plain bad last year, as their .321 on-base percentage ranked last in the N.L., and the West is a very tough division. But at 22/1, I’ll take ‘em" |

| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 19 2008, 10:31 AM |
| Yeah they did. It was a 7 inning game and it was only 4-0 at the 5th inning. Must've been a great time for the VT guys. I mean it was the freaking Yankees that they were playing. |

| Nice! Another baseball thread for the new season. AZFit, wanna make some stat-driven bets, only to lose, refuse to pay and ultimately reveal to everyone what a deadbeat you are? GOOD TIMES! |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 20 2008, 09:36 PM |
| How about the next time in in Socal, I meet you, and we fight for it? Oh wait, you actually want to win the money, never mind. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Mar 20 2008, 09:38 PM | ||
WTF are you talking about? Come to SoCal and fight me for it? Dude, I won that bet fair and square. If you refuse to pay then you're a deadbeat. It sucks, but hey...lotta people in this world suck really bad and I suppose we've gotta tolerate them. I'm sure it's in the mail though, right? Just sent it out, right? What a joke. |

| remember when Jswole offered to buy az a plane ticket to come out and fight him |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 20 2008, 09:40 PM |
| No, it's not in the mail. If you were a man I'd honor the bet, but you aren.t Plus as far as I'm concerned Drew had a better season since he was clutch when it counts. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Mar 20 2008, 09:43 PM | ||
Again, WTF are you talking about? If I were a man? Weak bro. "As far as I'm concerned Drew had a better season" is clearly not justification for not paying, since Reyes won the statistical bet far and away. Not that it matters how much I won by, a win is a win. Mind numbingly annoying that you're yapping about me "not being a man" when you're the one who's welching on a friendly $50 baseball bet. What is that? Who does that? So weak. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 20 2008, 09:51 PM |
| What was friendly about it? You were a douchebag the whole season. |

You've got to be kidding. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Mar 20 2008, 09:56 PM | ||
Right back atcha slick...doesn't make the bet any less real. Plus, WTF does that have to do with anything? "Waaa, I don't wanna honor my bets because you talked smack to me on the internet about baseball...waaaa" Seriously, WTF??? |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 20 2008, 09:56 PM | ||||
Did I say something funny to imply it's a joke? |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 20 2008, 09:58 PM | ||||||
Just answer this question with either yes or no. Did you lose the bet between Reyes and Drew based on the agreed upon criteria? |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 20 2008, 10:01 PM | ||||||||
IMO, no |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Mar 20 2008, 10:03 PM | ||||||||||
What does "IMO" have to do with the agreed upon statistics that determined the outcome of the bet? That's the beauty of a bet like that...there is no "opinion"...either you win or you lose, and the statistics are black and white to avoid any gray area dilemmas. Clearly, I was the winner and AZFit refused to pay because he's a deadbeat. QUOTE (JW32Hoops @ Sep 14 2007, 11:15 AM) QUOTE (azfittrainer @ Apr 19 2007, 02:33 PM) QUOTE (JW32Hoops @ Apr 19 2007, 12:06 PM) OK, so here goes again. $50 on the sum total of these categories. I'm down, let me know if you are. BA + XBH + R + RBI + TB Or, if you'd like to add SB, I'm fine with that too, let me know. Those categories work fine for me. It will give by most peoples standards a pretty good assement of overall offensive contribution. It's a final... Reyes vs Drew Final Season Totals Jose .280BA + 119R + 57RBI + 60xBH + 287TB = 803 Stephen .238BA + 60R + 60RBI + 44xBH + 201TB = 603 |

You're so right. Plus, those Duke guys can be real douchebags, so that win doesn't count. They're not men. |

Dude, my medical background is none of your (or anyone else's) business. Also, I've never been convicted of anything (let alone a felony) so you're incorrect in calling me a felon. As far as my employers are concerned, I have no idea how that is relevant. I am not impaired while in the office and get my work done the same as anyone else would. Again, sorry to Adam Grossman for hijacking the baseball thread with AZ's nonsense. AZ, if you want to continue this ridiculous e-fight, just PM me. I'm sorry you refuse to honor your debts, but I don't wanna continue wasting keystrokes on the subject. So.....how bout them Tigers? Lookin pretty stacked. |

| Liriano's starting to look strong now. They said today would be his real test to see if his elbow was good and if he had control of his pitches. 5 K's, no hits, no runs in 4 innings. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Mar 23 2008, 09:29 PM |
| I read somewhere that Liriano is back to full strength and looking good. What do you think of the guys you got in the Santana deal? That kid Gomez is raw and young and fast as hell. You got Humber too right? |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Mar 23 2008, 09:47 PM | ||
Yeah I think they have high hopes for Gomez. He's one of two players vying for the starting center field spot. Humber seems to be doing well also but not sure if he got a starter spot. As for the other guys, your guess is as good as mine. We got the numbers in the trade, but you definitely got the talent. |

| Gotta love the Marlins....basically a Triple-A affiliate for the larger market teams. They bring up sick young talent, then their contract comes up and they're off... |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Mar 24 2008, 11:18 PM |
| Definitely. I didn't know they traded D-Train to the Tigers. Tigers are fucking STACKED this year. Twins signed Joe Nathan for 4 more years. Dude's got as many saves as Mariano Rivera in the last 4 years. |

| I'm not to into baseball but what do you guys think of the Jays this year? My friends who follow the MLB say they got a good shot at the wild card spot this year But they already lost 1 guy for the year and B.J. Ryan will be about 1 month before he is implemented into the lineup |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Mar 26 2008, 09:08 AM |
| They have a decent lineup this year. Still got the Big Hurt! |

| Canseco's trying to nark out A-Rod. What a scumbag. http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/yankees/ny-spwally275627508mar27,0,5195886.column |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 27 2008, 09:43 AM |
| We don't know what baseball did to Canseco. There's a reason he didn't play for a few more years. He never tested positive, he was never suspended. He still had lots left in the tank. He got pissed off and called out the owners and baseball on AAS. I'm sure his allegations about being used by baseball owners to spread AAS use to their players is true. |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Mar 27 2008, 09:47 AM |
| There's food for thought.... |

| Nice input. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 27 2008, 10:04 AM | ||
Why does that make him a scumbag? If A-Rod doesn't want people to say bad things about him, then he shouldn't do them. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 27 2008, 10:05 AM | ||
They have won as many World Series as the Mets have, and in much less time. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Mar 27 2008, 09:14 PM | ||||
Does that mean that they're not currently a quasi-minor league team...bringing up awesome talent, only to ship them off rather than pay them? Are you trying to somehow dispute that or just instigating? |

| http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080326&content_id=2459323&vkey=spt2008news&fext=.jsp&c_id=nym Pedro's arm is feeling good and he's had an awesome spring! If he can stay healthy and pitch well, the Mets are gonna be really dangerous come September/October. I think he's the key. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 27 2008, 09:40 PM | ||||||
I'm pointing out, that they can't be that bad since they've won as many World Series as the Mets have |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Mar 27 2008, 09:47 PM | ||||||||
They stocked up on talent for a couple isolated years, won 2 World Series titles, then sold everyone off. They were way below .500 in 2006 and again in 2007 and probably will be again in 2008, so overall, they weren't that bad......but currently they are a Triple-A squad for all intents and purposes. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 27 2008, 09:55 PM |
| They won as many division titles as the Mets did last year. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Mar 27 2008, 10:01 PM | ||
The Marlins never won the NL East division, even in the years they won the WS. |

| Posted by: willpiazza31 Mar 28 2008, 07:38 AM |
| So then according to Assfit's retarded logic the D-backs are just as good as the Royals since they both have one World Series win. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Mar 28 2008, 09:31 AM | ||
By that logic, the D-Backs would be better than KC, since they won their WS in a much smaller amount of time. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Mar 28 2008, 09:45 AM | ||
No, they've won more divisional playoffs. |

TOTALLY! Before the Braves ruled the NL East, I remember hating the Pirates as a kid cuz they were always better than the Mets. Those were the Bonds/Bonilla days. I think Andy Van Slyke was on there too. |

HAHA...that's cuz Keith Hernandez hated Whitey Herzog and bounced to NYM to make us the ridiculously talented team we were. Best defensive 1st basemen ever...and he wasn't shy about talking shit on the Cards front office. Dude would bat .300, make ridiculous plays in the field and be crushing Michelobs and Marlboros in the clubhouse. Goddamn, I wish I could go back in time to experience that era again. |

any funny madden stories |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 5 2008, 01:21 AM |
| I just picked up Micah Owings off waivers. CBSSports.com STATS LLC Diamondbacks SP Micah Owings, who struck out 6.2 batters per nine innings as a rookie last year, did the reciprocal in his 2008 season debut Friday at the Rockies, striking out a career-high nine in 6 2/3 innings. He allowed only one run on two hits and two walks to record the win. (Updated 04/04/2008). Fantasy Analysis Owings had an awful spring, posting a 9.77 ERA in Cactus League action, but he apparently had no trouble turning up his performance once the games started meaning something. He got better and better as a rookie last year, allowing only a .219 batting average in the second half, so consider him a sleeper in all leagues. He'll likely make his next start Wednesday against the Dodgers. (Updated 04/04/2008). |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Apr 5 2008, 09:50 AM |
| I picked him up too last night. I wanted to pick him up before yesterday's start but the whole Coors Field thing got me nervous. He did pretty well anyway!! |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Apr 5 2008, 10:06 AM |
| So I'm reading Vindicated and Canseco talks about his short prison stint. This line is pretty F'ed up! "All the jumpsuits were ripped at the seams to make it easier to rape guys." |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Apr 5 2008, 11:22 AM | ||
Not too mention he's a better hitter than half the Mets lineup |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 5 2008, 12:29 PM | ||||
Wow...even when I try to give the D-Backs some props. You're probably right though. David Wright, Carlos Delgado, Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, Moises Alou...those guys can't swing it like Micah. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Apr 5 2008, 12:35 PM | ||||||
He's a better hitter than half the D-Backs line up. In college he set the record for homeruns at Tulane University. |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Apr 5 2008, 12:38 PM |
| Just when you can't get anymore ridiculous.... Edit: Well maybe you're right. Once he gets bombed out of the league (hopefully after this year since he's on my fantasy team) he could always try to become a position player like Rick Ankiel. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 5 2008, 12:41 PM |
| He's a good hitter, no doubt. I just hope he pitches well for "I Just Got Back From Red Lobster" |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Apr 5 2008, 01:28 PM | ||
He had a better pitching record than several of your 'Mazing Mets" last year. Especially when it counted down the stretch. Can we say "biggest choke in NL East history"? |
| Posted by: willpiazza31 Apr 5 2008, 01:39 PM |
| Yeah it was a choke, so what. It happens. It's funny how you're not making any bets this year though. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 5 2008, 01:41 PM | ||
8-8 with a 4.30 ERA was a better record than which Mets starter last year? John Maine 15-10 3.91 ERA Oliver Perez 15-10 3.56 ERA El Duque 9-5 3.72 ERA Jorge Sosa 9-8 4.47 ERA Pedro Martinez 3-1 2.57 ERA I guess he was better than Mike Pelfrey last year...so there ya go. |

CBS Sportsline Diamondbacks SS Stephen Drew, coming off a rough sophomore season in which he hit .238, went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Monday in the season opener at Cincinnati. (Updated 03/31/2008). Yahoo! Mar 30 SS Stephen Drew is one of two left-handed-hitting regulars in the lineup, and if the Diamondbacks need to find playing time for super sub Chris Burke, it could come at Drew's expense, especially when the opponent throws a right-hander. Burke is a career .291 hitter against lefties. |

He's clutch when it counts, which is more than I can say about you're entire line up. What Reyes BA down the stretch? .180? |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Apr 5 2008, 02:17 PM | ||||
He had a better ERA than Sosa, with a line up that scored less runs, and he was also a rookie. Lets look at the record of all the pitches who pitched last year for the Mets. Also, lets look at how they pitched when it counted, like September. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 5 2008, 02:21 PM | ||||||
I love how you'll make a statement (like "Micah Owings had a better record than several Mets pitchers") then when you're completely proved wrong (every starting pitcher besdies Pelfrey had a better record than Owings) you spin it faster than Bill O'Reilly on steroids, changing the subject to a certain month of the year, rather than their "record" which was your original argument. EDIT: Tom Glavine was 13-8...forgot to include him in my earlier post. But hey, his last outing of the year was a disgrace, so I guess that means Owings had a better record than 13-8 |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Apr 5 2008, 02:25 PM | ||||||||
Lets look at the record of all the pitchers who pitched for the Mets last year. You listed 5. You even admit 2 of them had a worse year than Micah. Also, yes time of year means alot. What good is your season if you choke when the team needs a big win out of you. It's not my fault your 120 million couldn't keep you from free falling in the NL, like an Italian doing an IQ test. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 5 2008, 02:29 PM | ||
If Pelfrey counts for 2 pitchers, then yes...2 pitchers had a worse record than Owings. Those are all the Mets who started a significant amount of games (ok, you can leave Pedro off, since he only started a few games) http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/NYM/2007.shtml EDIT: It's not my fault you're a racist. I don't care about Italians taking IQ tests, just refuting your ill-advised statement that Owings had a better record than several Mets starters. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Apr 5 2008, 02:41 PM |
| Sosa did too. ERA is a much better indicator of pitching than win/loss percentage. He only won one more game than Micah, with an offense that produced alot more runs. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 5 2008, 02:44 PM | ||
Keep spinning O'Reilly. You said "better record" now your argument seems to center around run support and ERA. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Apr 5 2008, 02:51 PM |
| Sosa 9-8 4.47 ERA Mota 2-2 5.76 ERA Pelfrey 3-8 5.57 ERA Lawrence 1-2 6..83 ERA Schoenewis 0-2 5.03 ERA Sele 3-2 5.37 ERA Thats several 'Not so Amazing Mets" pitchers right there who did worse than a rookie who also hit more homeruns than Jose Valentin, whom you were so sure was going to do better than the D-Backs outfielders. He also had as many homer as Damion Easley in a fraction of the AB's |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 5 2008, 02:53 PM |
| Dude, this "argument" of yours (not even sure what you're trying to prove right now) has spun out of control. Guillermo Mota and Scott Shoeneweis aren't starters and Brian Lawrence was a spot starter who only played a few games cuz of injury. Believe whatver you want. I'm done with this BS for now. Hope you're enjoying that $50 you owe me. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Apr 5 2008, 02:53 PM | ||||
I also said pitchers, you nicely posted the records of your winning starters. I juts posted several Mets pitchers with worse seasons than Owings. I also mentioned two Hitters who had a worse season than Owingas, including a guy you actually thought would do better than the D-Backs hitters Thats almost as funny as David Wright winning the MVP |
| Posted by: AdamGrossman Apr 5 2008, 02:56 PM |
| Holy shit...I don't check on the Twins in a week and come back to find Liriano demoted to the minors and Cuddyer on the DL. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 5 2008, 02:56 PM | ||
David Wright 2007 .325BA, 30HR, 34SB, 107RBI, 113R 2008 .462BA...so far, but obviously it's very early. What's laughable about that? He'd probably have won it in '07 had the team not collapsed. Jimmy Rollins 2007 MVP .296BA, 30HR, 41SB, 94RBI, 139RBI |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Apr 5 2008, 03:01 PM | ||
I said pitchers, and i showed you several pitchers who has worse seasons. Don't go crying to me like a bitch cuz I proved you wrong. |
| Posted by: azfittrainer Apr 5 2008, 03:03 PM | ||||
But the team DID collapse, especially Wright and Reyes, when it counted. |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 5 2008, 03:04 PM | ||||||
Wright batted almost .400 in August and September. Also, I find it pathetic that you can't have a baseball debate without resorting to name-calling and racism. Obviously we like different teams and get amped up to argue about them. No need to be so ignorant and childish. |

| If you want to play the "clutch" game what about this? "In the NLCS (where, ironically, they faced the Rockies), however, the D-backs' bats - and any sort of luck they had - fell silent. Though the D-backs' pitchers kept it close, they just didn't seem to get any kind of situational hitting. Plays in key situations- Upton's slide in Game 1, Stephen Drew's baserunning mistake and Valverde's 3 walks in a row, including a bases-loaded walk in the 10th in Game 2, Yorvit Torrealba's homer in Game 3, Conor Jackson booting the ball in Game 4, and even into the 8th and 9th innings of the final game, with the D-backs trailing by two, Tony Clark struck out leaving Upton at third base in the 8th, and in the 9th, Chris Young's leadoff double was wasted...The D-backs ran out of momentum against a Colorado team who just couldn't lose and were swept by the Rockies." Lucky - that describes the Douchebacks 2007 season! |

| I find it funny that you guys are going through the trouble of trying to have a logical argument with AZ. Hes going to spin it, add new twists, and when in doubt deny. Its a big part of his online "character". He is NEVER going to admit he is wrong...EVER. |

| Just got done reading an article in ESPN mag about how much better the American League is than the National. They attribute most of it to the DH which makes sense. Also an article about the Cubbies. They've really gotten the short end of the stick over the years. Sorry CC. |
| Posted by: cc-10 Apr 5 2008, 06:43 PM | ||
yeah, the little 100 years thing...a lot of articles w/ timelines of the cubbies downfalls have been mentioned a lot hear lately...oh well...5 superbowls... |
| Posted by: JW32Hoops Apr 5 2008, 06:44 PM | ||
AL plays with 10 players, NL plays with the traditional 9. Makes sense that they score more runs, hit more HR's, etc. They've got more bats to do it with. The American League is a mutation of the game, IMO. |
