Rays are boozin and shmoozin with Milton Bradley. I didn't know his '08 stats were as good as they are; .321 BA w/ 22 HR's and 77 RBI. He would be the perfect addition to shore up some needed offense.

The AL East is gonna be a battleground this year. Yanks got CC, AJ Burnett, and Teixeira. The BoSox have been quiet so far and the Rays only got one of their three needed positions filled. Should be an interesting '09.

Who the fuck is Matt Joyce?

http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/news/article....xt=.jsp&c_id=tb

He's supposed to be pretty good. He showed some power in Detroit. He'll fit right in in Tampa and could have a breakout year.

Yeah I looked at his stats and he pretty much fits the mold of a Rays player.

I think the AL East is gonna be where it's at this year. I said it last year about the AL Central and that didn't pan out, but the Rays, BoSox, and Yanks should make for some entertaining baseball.

NEW YORK (AP)—Phillies reliever J.C. Romero and Yankees minor league pitcher Sergio Mitre were suspended for the first 50 games of next season after testing positive for a banned substance.

The suspensions were announced Tuesday by Major League Baseball.

Romero earned two wins in Philadelphia’s World Series victory over Tampa Bay last season. He has called the penalty unfair, ESPN.com reported Monday night. He contends the supplement he took during the season was legal because he bought it over the counter at a nutrition store in the United States. An arbitrator decided against Romero in November.

Rays got Pat Burrell for DH and Gabe Kapler for yet another backup outfielder, in addition to their bullpen help and Matt Joyce.

Two words: repeat contender

Fuck you Al. The only reason you don't like baseball is cuz you're a Pirates fan. No self-respecting individual would ever make that claim.

MLB Network is the best idea for a cable sports channel. I like watching Hot Stove and seeing where all the free agents go during the offseason.

Yanks are attempting to buy another Series title.

Mets stacked their bullpen to avoid another late season collapse.

Phillies didn't lose a lot players from their World Series team.

Boston beefed up their pitching.

Rays got exactly what they needed to shore up the weak points in their '08 lineup. They're gonna be so fucking good this year I want to shit myself.

Here you go Alan, hot news from the Pirates! Maybe this will get you all excited.

laugh.gif

PITTSBURGH (AP)—The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed right-hander Virgil Vasquez off waivers from the San Diego Padres on Monday.

The move fills the Pirates’ 40-man roster and boosts the number of players they have invited to spring training to 57.

The 26-year-old Vasquez was 12-12 with a 4.81 ERA for Detroit’s Triple-A Toledo farm club last season, with 115 strikeouts and 37 walks. He was waived after the season.

The Pirates are Vasquez’s third club since the season ended, following the Padres and Red Sox.

In 16 2-3 innings with Detroit in 2007, Vasquez gave up 16 earned runs and seven homers.
