Nothing will happen to him. It's going to be a monumental waste of time and money by the government. SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA (TICKER) —All-time home run king Barry Bonds filed court papers in San Francisco Monday, seeking to dismiss much of the superceding indictment returned against him, according to the San Jose Mercury News. According to the newspaper, Bonds’ defense team maintains that 10 of the 15 charges are so legally flawed that they must be thrown out of court. The indictment, which was filed in May, added 10 more counts - including obstruction of justice - to the original four filed against Bonds in November. The original indictment stemmed from a 2003 grand-jury testimony in which the slugger denied knowingly taking illegal performance-enhancing drugs. The new indictment was issued on February 29 in response to a prior ruling by U.S. District Judge Susan Illston, who agreed with a defense motion that the initial indictment was potentially vague and ambiguous. The Mercury News reported that federal prosecutors are expected to respond to Bonds’ latest legal move next month. A free agent, Bonds has drawn little interest from teams and is set to go to trial in March

Queens man says he was booted from Yankee Stadium for heading to the bathroom while "God Bless America" was playing. Brad Campeau-Lampion, 29, said off-duty cops working Tuesday night's game against the Boston Red Sox ejected him when he got up from his seat and walked to the men's room just as the patriotic anthem began. "The officer informed me that I had to wait until the song was over," Campeau-Lampion, an information technology director from Astoria who roots for the Red Sox, told the Daily News Wednesday. "I said, 'I don't care about 'God Bless America,'" he said. "Next thing I know he was pinning my arm behind my back." Campeau-Lampion said two officers then escorted him from the upper deck out of the Stadium. "I've never seen anyone handled like that unless they've thrown a punch," he said. "It was a complete overreaction." The NYPD told a different story. A police spokesman said Campeau-Lampion was thrown out because he was "standing on his seat cursing, using inappropriate language and acting in a disrespectful manner while reeking of alcohol." Campeau-Lampion, who filed a complaint with the NYPD's Civilian Complaint Review Board and called the New York Civil Liberties Union for advice, denies he was drunk. A call to Yankee Stadium wasn't returned yesterday, but the team began restricting fans movements during the song after 9/11 out of respect for U.S. troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

 | QUOTE (willpiazza31 @ Sep 4 2008, 12:28 AM) | The Rays fans are a fucking disgrace. They've been kicking ass all year, about 30 games over 500 at home and yet they only drew 21,000 fans against the Yankees on Tuesday?!!
What a joke. |
You're wrong...the fans are a disgrace. It's not the Rays' fault that no one comes to the games. The stadium is in downtown St. Petersburg which is about 30 miles from the nearest point in Tampa. People in Tampa don't want to drive that far to see a game, and St. Petersburg only has about 500,000 people. If they think attendance is bad now then just wait until they build an outdoor stadium.
