[PRODUCT]938[/PRODUCT] Alright guys, this product "Real gains" has some pretty exciting reviews coming from it and that means either there are actuals results coming out of it or Universal is paying people to make this shit up.

So the question is.... Do you use "Real gains" just as you would use regular whey protein? If so what kind of dosing would you use throughout the day?

And for those of you that use "Real gains" as your primary protein source, did you notice a lot of weigh gain from it?

thanks.
Mr. M

The recommended dosing is:

"Use one serving between meals and at bedtime. Due to potency, you may want to take half the recommended dosage."

When i used it, i had 3 shakes a day. 1 in the morning one after a workout and one before bed.

How long were you taking it? What were the results?

I took a shake about 15 mins after a workout. I only went through 2 tubs of the chocolate flavour.

I gained roughly 5lbs from 2 containers 6.56lbs x2 or something

You're better off making your own shakes. The majority of weight gainers use maltodextrin as the carb source. It's good to use PWO though.

So, for example, Whey + Waxymaize = PWO shake?

Posted by: Doogsy Oct 23 2007, 12:26 PM
Exactly - you could even throw in some Dextrose as well

Posted by: Will109090 Oct 23 2007, 12:37 PM
I don't know anything about waxy maize, so I can't say if it's good. But it seems to be getting good reviews.

In my PWO shake, I just use whey for my protein source and oats as my carb source. I may have to give waxy maize a try, is it really sweet like dextrose and malto?

Posted by: Doogsy Oct 23 2007, 12:55 PM
Im not to sure what it tastes like but im going to order some real soon.

It has actually been shown that Waxy Maize actually passes through the stomach 80% faster than dextrose and consequently restore muscle glycogen (muscle energy) 70% faster!

gentlemen...

the whole point of using wms is the is to take advantage of the (apparent) fast uptake into the bloodstream from the small gut. you use it post training to reload muscle glycogen. according to science, carbs with lower molecular weight get absorbed faster, no studies (that I know of) have proved wms's effectiveness, but all the pros are using it.

mixing it with protein, would just slow things down, and defeat the purpose.

...and dextrose is just another word for SUGAR. Maltodextrin on the other hand is a shorter chain and easily broken down and used as energy.

As far as this weight gainer goes...I've never used it. I've used gainers in the past with some success. Upon doing a little more research I found that a regular protein blend is sufficient, when bulking add some fruit, peanut and/or almond butter to your shakes, and use 2% or whole milk if you want the extra cals.

I thought you were supposed to mix it in w/your PWO shake? blink.gif

How would you recommend dosing it?

I drink a muscle milk shake in the morning, and a real gains shake PWO and a muscle milk shake before bed.

Works like a charm.

dose it? use it post training...wait 20 minutes then have your regular pwo protein shake.

for those of you that used Real Gains, did your bodyfat percentage go up any?

I noticed that Real Gains also has Leucine in it which I assume isn't to good before bed, did it show noticable energy boost?

my parents have been being asses about budget so im stuck with using weight gainers instead of regular whey.

gained a lil fat from it so far but nothing major.

I personally don't like all that malto. It gave me a nasty feeling in my stomach like I ate 2 cups of hot fudge or something to that extent. Oats are nice and cheap for something to blend for a morning or afternoon shake, but glyco loading before and after a workout should be by itself. I usually hit 90g carbs from oats pre and 90g carbs from oats post and have little or no soreness anymore. I just started about a week ago...plus it keeps my energy up for my night job. I actually ordered some waxy maize starch from True Protein because it's the cheapest I've found....like $2.60/lb, and it's a reliable source as well. Gotta have something faster working for an PWO drink.

And it has a very bland taste to those who don't know, it's not that sweet...they describe it better at True Protein. It's priced here pretty well too in bulk.

Ok well I have seen everyone kind of get into the topic of PWO shakes... so to get me where you guys are on the subject what ingredients do you use in this shake?

Is this PWO shake something you drink 3 or 4 times a day or just something you drink after you get done working out?

So you if you can give me all the details that any of you can offer about this subject as far as what to use, when to take, how to make it....

Thanks guys

PWO = Post Work Out

You only drink it after a workout.

That doesn't make any sense considering whey is definitely cheaper than weight gainers.

Over here weightgainers are about a third more expensive than protein sad.gif

Weight gainers are overall more expensive by the tub, but when you compare the number of servings, straight whey is much cheaper than weight gainers.

Example, a 6 lb. tub of CytoGainer may be like $35, and a 5 lb. tub of ON whey may be $45-50. But the amount of servings in the Cyto is like 20, while the ON whey is like 80.
