Obviously smoking weed lowers one's energy, ambition, drive, passion, etc etc.

But does it have any effect on muscle growth?

I have a decent diet, I lift 4-5 times a week and I take some supplements, but I most definitely get stoned on a consistent basis. Never before workouts, only after.

It usually leads to me resting on the couch and devouring massive amounts of food and protein products.

Will the ganja effect the growth of my muscles though?

(please say it makes you bigger.......lol) cool.gif

It can be an effective supplement for gaining if used responsibly. Like Roids said, stay away from the junk food -- stick to the good stuff. I'll eat a can of tuna (no mayo), about 4 or 5 servings of peanut butter or a slab of salmon with crackers.

Bad idea? A bag of Funyuns, king sized Skittles, bag of Oreos, et al. laugh.gif

Edit: Not to mention it encourages me to lift harder knowing I can "kill the pain" later cool.gif

I'm glad there isn't a breathalyzer for lactic acid....

Nice, glad to know I can still get superhigh without it taking away from getting big.

I've been using cottage cheese as a snack (cuz of the hight protein) and doing Whey Protein shakes with banana and peanut butter as snacks between my normal meals.

I've absolutely bonded with the majority of my friends over a fatty, or a bowl, etc etc. Less dangerous than alcohol if you ask me.

If you're black-out drunk, you're more likely to get into a car accident, get into a fight, smack a girl, etc etc....if you're stoned, you're most likely to watch Super Troopers, eat lots of food and take a nap.

Gotta love a fat bowl after a post-workout shower.

Same here. I live in NYC, my gym is 2 subway stops and a few block walk from my apartment (probably 12 minutes total) so I shower when I get home too.

Always an extra relaxing shower when you're stoned as hell, it's cold outside and the water is steaming hot.

I know you're supposed to drink a protein shake right after lifting, but what's the time limit there? Does it matter if I do it like 45 min after, or does it need to be immediate?

Workout, go home, smoke, drink, shower. cool.gif

smoking weed will lower your test levels, if you smoke say once a week it wont be enough to have any real significance, but if your a pure pot head like some off my mates, and god forbid like i used to be then yes it will effect your gains.

do you know where i can find one of these studies, bc i cannot find any but would love to locate one

i thought this was true, but perhaps just another popular myth

theres nothing wrong with sittin back and suckin back a fatty here and there... if you havent been already..get your ass to amsterdam! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I actually saw bigger gains when i was smoking every day. i have stopped within the last month and a half because im getting a blood test in march and thats a no no. hahaha but yeah id say smoke it up but keep it in moderation.

Started smoking regularly (daily) at age 18. At that time, I weighed ~160.

I'm now 26. I've smoked everyday since, except this last month... I haven't smoked any... trying to quit the habit. I am now 226 (+66lbs.). I've only been lifting since 2002, aside from lifting in high school. So, it won't limit gains too bad. As long as you can function and get to the gym and not cave in on the diet, it's fine.

Of course, one could say, "Imagine how big you'd be now if you didn't smoke pot." Maybe I would be 250. Who knows?
