couple things...

First: WTF made you decide to lift equipped? Last I remember you wanted to total elite or some shit RAW before you brought gear into the game. Not knocking you, I've always lifted equipped, just wondering why the change of philosophy (I apologize if this was somewhere in your log and I missed it).

Second: What briefs/Suit did you buy? (again, sorry if you already covered this).

Third: You planning on running a shirt too?

Last: I'm really partial towards the straps on the Metal equipment, they got that shit RIGHT. They are much wider than the typical inzer or Titan suits and it makes a huge difference in how it squishes on the traps.

Tidbit of info: I've found that if I belt up before putting my straps up that it makes a difference in the groove of not only the briefs but the suit also. This is where a lever can be quite handy, or at least a helper to get you belted up.

you running wraps too?

Yep, covered it all... biggrin.gif

1. After trying out the Rage-X at Carpenter's it really opened my mind to trying out equipped lifting and the dificulty of it. It puts a different twist to things and a fun challenge. Also with the help of training with team Carpenter I just can't pass up this oportunity and need to get the most out of it as much as possible.

I also figured it can help carry over to my unequipped lifts. It's still not my main focus. Plan on hitting this January UPA meet equipped and then the two NASA meets next year unequipped. I might do a push/pull UPA meet next year as well equipped just to do it. After this January meet I'll tapper off going over to Bill's to just once a month and the rest of the time focusing on unequipped lifting.

I've still got 1675 unequipped as my main goal but would like to qualify by the January 2010 UPA meet for a UPA nationals running equipped which shouldn't be to hard with a 1575 total. It would be an awesome time to be lifting in that.

2. Got all Single ply Titan to start with and not completely take away from my base strength. Centurion Super NXG+ dual quad briefs and squat suit wide stance and

3. a Super Katana A/S. Been training over at Bills pass two weekends and plan on keep heading over there till the January meet.

4. The Super NXG+ Centurion improved a lot on their strap and made them wider.
http://www.liftinglarge.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=8
Jeremy Fry's Metal gear is pretty kick ass though. Pretty expensive too.

Tidbit: Good to know. Ken Anderson is sending me a lever belt too. I found with the gear I'm tightening the belt down a lot more than I normally would. The lever would help a lot with that. For the shirt I just got a carpenter's belt from lowes.

Wraps: yep, APT hybrid convict/strangulators.

you're going to see where pushing your ass back onto the box is really helpful in the suit. I'll have to watch your video again to see if you're pushing back far enough...of course if you're training at Carpenters they'll set you straight.

I think you're going to have a blast with the equipment. As I probably have said before, it adds another dynamic to powerlifting and makes it that much more interesting. Yeah it inflates your lifts but it makes it fun and keeps it interesting.

I hope to god that Carpenter and his gang totally jack you on the bench. When I went to Southside and Dizenzo and Rhoads were working with me, they showed me what shirted-benching was all about. It is the most uncomfortable, shitty thing in the entire world done MM-style.

Your shirt will be setup where you can't even grab the barbell, it's like you're handcuffed. Your handout will be almost 100% spotted out to you...for lack of better words, it's fucking scary.

I need a lot more work on sitting back and relying on the suit. First time with the squats suits I flew up going forward.

They've been a lot of help getting me set into the shirt and working on the groove. Hurts like hell getting it down to even a three board. Got down to a one board this last weekend and this next weekend will be going all the way down no boards at least once. Totally right about feeling cuffed. Hard to get the hands out to the rings.

So far the squat suit has been the worse for pain though. Really a big crushing feeling. Even though all the pain, bruises, and welts it has been a blast. You certainly have to have a good threshhold for pain.

Basically if you haven't touched you're not allowed to press yet. Yelling at you to TUCK TUCK TUCK, BELLY BELLY BELLY, TUCK TUCK TUCK. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Patience,or lack there of, is the key with them.

Dizenzo has an article on Elitefts about the triples method...it works.

First rep will only go down so far and once the coach makes the call, he'll give you "press".
Second rep will sink a little lower...again, press command will come from coach.
Last rep should touch.

It gets you acclimated to the shirt and it's almost like you relax into it.

Starting to feel stronger. My triceps are thrashed after this morning. I got a huge PUMP too in them after those tricep extensions. Should have done some curls to go with that pump.

LOL, I'm actually still behind from where I was. Don't know I might be where I was at this point last year but definitely not as strong as where I left off just over 6 months ago now.

I guess you missed the 6 month lay off I had after loosing my house and 99% of everything I owned to a flood. Spent about 5 months under fed, dehydrated, and working my tail off to help clean up.

Not a good night last night. I've had projectile fluids coming out of both ends all night. At least I stopped the puking part around 9am. Late night at work and around 8:30pm last night I got a chicken club combo at Hardee's. BAD IDEA!!!! About 11:30 last night it started. Almost went to the hospital if I didn't stop at least the puking part and can keep down some pedialite by this afternoon. Muscles have been cramping up really bad too as I've been getting massively dehydrated. At least I'm keeping down the pedialite now. Last time I was this bad off from food poisoning was back in highschool when 600 kids out of 800 got sick from eating from the school cafeteria. Hopefully I'll be eating some solid food by tonight and be ready for some benching tomorrow.

Happy to finally get 275 again. Slight struggle on the way up but kept moving strong. Shirt work was aweful today. 365 felt easy but went straight back on the first set. Got it easy on the second. 405 was just misserable. I flatten out to much once I get to touching the boads and loose it. I have to focus a LOT more on staying up on my traps, staying tight the entire time, and keeping my belly up. Wont be able to get over to Carpenter's for the next month as we'll be traveling out of town every weekend for the next month. Yep, Christmas starts next weekend for us. YAY..... dry.gif

Just realized I’m 8 weeks in to my first cycle already. No wonder I was starting to feel burn out. After this last Sunday’s bench session I really felt I needed to pull back this week and hit a deload. I’ve just sort of randomly done stuff here and there but nothing with a bar. Just some foam roller, band work, bodyweight stuff, and some sled dragging. Nothing major and just normal GPP stuff.
