GABA doesn't cross the blood brain barrier, although a metabolite might, or it may cross the BBB in a low enough quantity for supplementation to have an effect, I haven't seen evidence on this either way. Some people report an effect from GABA supplementation, most notably a tingling in the limbs, which may be due to a peripheral effect. I can't see peripheral GABA buildup being desirable.
