| Slayer’s Test Log for Scivations: Anagen Anagen- Anabolic Adaptagen • 20-Hydroxyecdysterone • Rhodiola Rosea • Bacopa Monniera ![]() Firstly I would like to thank Marc for giving me the opportunity to be a tester. They have been very accommodating and understanding. I am very impressed with the reps at BN, both “jkeithc82” and “Scivation” have been doing a great work in addressing all questions and concerns, keep up the great work guys! Brief history: Started lifting at the age of 14 under the supervision of a instructor. Unfortunately not much attention was aimed towards diet; 2 hours a day was allocated to weight training alone and another 2 in preparation for a boxing competition hence I weighed only 120lbs. However, once I started researching and participating on forums I realized my mistake and made drastic modifications to my training and diet. Since then, it has been a bumpy road to get my diet to where it has been for the past 3 years. Main Goals: My short term goal is to increase muscle mass, while maintaining similar body fat. Currently my weekly gains are slow .5lbs/week, partly due to my clean diet. Long term goals is 210 @ 6-10%. My Stats Height 5’8” Weight 180 BF%:10-12 Caloric Intake Aim 3500-4000 calories Your cardio type (if applicable) Light cardio 20 mins. 1-2x a week. Supplements: Energized Xpand (Pre Workout) Cit M and CEE (Post) Pure Vitargo (Post) ON Whey Fishoil/Flax Multi Diet remains fairly consistent throughout the week. | Day 1 Tuesday: Lower 1 Incline Curls: 2 x 8-10 Hammers: 1 x 12 A2G Squats: 5 x 5, 225-235lbs Leg Press: 4 x 10-12 9 Plates Ham Curls RP 20 160lbs Calves: DC Style Abs Work: 5 x 10 Day One Today, I planed to execute every exercise with full range of motion especially on A2G. A2G I started of with the same weight I used last week, however I managed to perform them with no trouble whatsoever and for my last set I was doing 235 for 5 reps. Leg Press I was able to use over 9 plates and maintained 12-15 reps another great improvement since last week. Today I was very well rested and hence greater strength. Its way too soon to notice Anagen as of yet. |

| Day 3 Thursday: Upper 2 Low Incline Smythe: 15 RP (rest paused) 150lbs Shallow Decline DB Press: 2 x 8-10 120lbs Standing Military Press: 3 x 5-8 100lbs Pulldowns(2x15,12 wide),(1x12 medium) 130lbs, 120lbs Reverse Pulldown 1-12 120lbs Rev. P-downs: 2 x 10-12 90lbs In the past my main emphasis while training has been a mind-muscle connection, strength always came secondary to that. However for the last 3 months I have prioritized strength. I still ensure proper form while executing exercises and maintain a 3-0-2 tempo on most compound movements. I was not 100% focused mentally however; there was a significant strength increase in every single exercise by approximately 10lbs. I am tempted to direct my strength increase to Anagen, however it is still way to soon and most likely a placebo effect. Wednesday was my off day and since I last measured my weight on Tuesday, I have gained 2lbs while maintaining my exact same caloric intake. Like I mentioned earlier I am more accustomed to seeing a .5lb increase/week. So far so good, tomorrow is a brutal leg training day and hopefully I wont be as distracted. |

| Day 4 Friday: Lower 2 Barbell Curls: 2 x 6-10 Standing Reverse Curls: 1 x 12 A2G Squats: 1 x 4-8, 1 x 20 (widow-maker) 240lbs Rack Dead lifts: 3 x 5 270lbs Ham. Curls: 2 x 10 200lbs Leg Exten: 2 x 10 180lbs Calves: 4 x 15-20 Abs Work: 5 x 10 Training: I increased my weights on every single exercise by at least 20lbs. Strength is really starting to increase significantly in the past week. Diet: Today, I must admit my diet wasn’t spot on as I believe I was on a slight caloric deficit but will bring it back up indefinitely. Opinions regarding Anagen: Strength has gone up significantly, as you can tell. As far as body composition goes I can notice a slight increase in thickness throughout. My dosage is 4 capsules/day with meals. |

| You mention that you're taking them with meals but when is the last time you take it? For me those adaptogens rhodiola rosea & bacopa tend to have a mild stimulatory effect. So if I take it past 4pm I'll be up until 3am. I wonder if you are experiencing this but perhaps it's too soon to tell. Good luck with the log, your attention to detail is appreciated. |
| Posted by: Slayer of Souls Apr 9 2006, 10:50 AM |
| I spread it throughout the day until 6pm, I haven’t noticed any stimulatory effect as of yet. Thanks. |
| Posted by: jkeithc82 Apr 9 2006, 02:14 PM |
| Very cool Slayer. The one thing I've noticed from Anagen is the strength increase as well, and that is with a calorie deficit as well. Good it going man! |

| For the entirety of my log I will be on a caloric surplus. I have heard fantastic results from people taking ECDY during a cut, let’s see how Anagen works while on a bulk. I have noticed a reduction in my over all body fat hence I will begin tapering up my calories by approximately 100-200 calories every couple of days and monitor how my body responds. My goals during the next 1.5 months are to near 190lbs while maintaining current body fat levels. Is ECDY all that it claims to be? We will soon find out. How long have you been on Anagen? I take it Mr. Scivation has also tried it? What were your results and diet like? |

| Day 6 Upper 1 Flat Bench: 4 x 5 (200lbs- 20lb increase) Incline Dumbbell: 2 x 6-10 (30 degree) (120lbs) Incline DB Flyes: 1 x 12-15 (15 degree) (50lbs- 10lb increase) JS Rows: 4 x 6 (160lbs) Lateral Raise: 2 x 10-12 (50lbs- 10lb increase) A1) Skullcrushers: 2 x 6-10 Training Great workout today, high energy throughout the brutal 50min workout. Diet: Top notch, very carb and protein rich. Perhaps slightly too high today. Supplement Anagen Over the weekend I noticed greater definition in my abs hence I gradually tapered up my calories. Today there was defiantly a small increase in over all thickness including my trouble part (arms). Weight:183 (Up three lbs in one week.) I generously attribute 1lb in fat gains. |

| Day 7 Tuesday: Lower 1 Incline Curls: 2 x 12-15 Hammers: 1 x 12-18 A2G Squats: 5 x 5, 225-235lbs Leg Press: 4 x 12-15 10 Plates (1 Plate increase and greater reps) Ham Curls RP 20 170lbs (10lb increase) Calves: DC Style Training Brutal brutal brutal. Diet: I decreased carb intake by around 70grams, yesterday I over did it. Supplement Anagen A small improvement in strength today, but defiantly noticing greater over all fullness! |
| Posted by: Slayer of Souls Apr 13 2006, 10:28 PM |
| Day 9 Thursday: Upper 2 Low Incline Smythe: 15 RP (rest paused) 160lbs (10lbs increase) Shallow Decline DB Press: 2 x 8-10 140lbs (20lbs increase) Standing Military Press: 3 x 5-8 110bs (10lb increase) Pulldowns(2x15,12 wide),(1x12 medium) 140lbs (10lb increase) Reverse Pulldown 1-12 140lbs (20lb increase) Rev. P-downs: 2 x 10-12 100lbs Training The reason for the drastic increase in strength is partly due to a slight change in exercise execution. Diet: Spot on. Supplement Anagen Great improvement in strength and I weighed myself today and was at a solid 185. That’s a 5lbs increase in 9 days, obviously some of it is fat but nonetheless my diet has remained pretty static, the only changes I make is the amount of carbs I consume which range from 100-400. |

| Day 11 – Saturday Lower 2 Barbell Curls: 2 x 6-10 Standing Reverse Curls: 1 x 12 A2G Squats: 1 x 4-8, 1 x 20 (widow-maker) 260lbs (20lb increase) Rack Dead lifts: 3 x 5 270lbs (10lb increase) Ham. Curls: 2 x 10 200lbs Leg Exten: 2 x 10 180lbs Calves: 4 x 15-20 Abs Work: 5 x 10 Training Still a ever increasing progression in strength. Diet: High Carbs and fat, moderate fats. Supplement Anagen Great improvement in strength again. |

| Wrong forum. Day 13 Flat Bench: 5 x 5 (200lbs) Incline Dumbbell: 2 x 6-10 (30 degree) 120lbs Incline DB Flyes: 1 x 12-15 (15 degree) (50lbs- 10lb increase) JS Rows: 4 x 6 (170lbs) 10lbs increase Lateral Raise: 2 x 10-12 A1) Skullcrushers: 2 x 6-10 Training Great workout today. Diet: I reduced carbs over the weekend to approximately 40-60 grams. Today I felt just as full but tighter. Supplement Anagen Great fullness all around, weights felt relatively lighter compared to last Monday. Muscle mass has defiantly increased! |
| Posted by: Slayer of Souls Apr 18 2006, 11:02 PM |
| Day 14 Tuesday: Lower 1 Incline Curls: 2 x 6-8 Hammers: 1 x 12-18 A2G Squats: 5 x 5, 250lbs (25lb increase) Leg Press: 3 x 6 12 Plates (DId low reps today) Calves: DC Style Training: Not the best workout I had but it was decent. Diet: Carbs have been around 250grams for the past 3 days while protein and fats remain high. Overall thoughts: I wanted to drop a small amount of body fat since my weight increased too rapidly. Today I was at 183lbs a small drop but nothing too significant. I feel just as muscular and full as I did a week earlier. Strength continues to increase and hopefully an increase in muscle mass will follow. |

| Wow, I rarely get that, I guess because I only hit it 3 times a week for an hour or a bit more. If I'm tired I take Driven and it really perks me the hell up. |
| Posted by: Slayer of Souls Apr 25 2006, 09:13 PM | ||
I rarely get that as well, it was simply foreshadowing a greater illness (fever...). Hopefully I will be back in the gym on Wednesday/Thursday to resume where I left off. Diet has been consistent regardless. |

| Day 23 Upper 1 Flat Bench: 5 x 5 (190lbs) (-10lbs) Incline Dumbbell: 2 x 6-10 (30 degree) 110lbs (-10lbs) Incline DB Flyes: 1 x 12-15 (15 degree) 50lbs (- 10lb) JS Rows: 4 x 6 (170lbs) -10lbs Lateral Raise: 2 x 10-12 A1) Skullcrushers: 2 x 6-10 Training Mediocre workout today. I am still not feeling 100%, I have been sick for the past week. Weights fell by 10lbs on almost every single exercise. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow. Supplement Anagen Nothing new to report. |
| Posted by: Christoph22123 Apr 27 2006, 04:09 PM |
| you jump almost 10 days and nothing new to report? Did you miss ten days due to fever? Did you stop Anagen while sick? Where are you with this now? |
| Posted by: Slayer of Souls Apr 28 2006, 09:45 PM |
| Day 24 Tuesday: Lower 1 Incline Curls: 2 x 6-8 Hammers: 1 x 12-18 A2G Squats: 7 x 5, 225 (Felt to easy, I increased volume slightly to avoid having to wait for the leg press machine to free up) Leg Press: 2 x 10 10 Plates (12reps came out easy) Calves: DC Style Overall thoughts: Despite my illness, I still was able to maintain my weight (183-185lbs). Which is interesting since when I fell ill* a few months ago I lost about 5-6lbs in the same amount of time. Perhaps Anagen preserved some muscle mass. I don’t usually get sick but I have been over stressing myself lately with school and so fourth; next week will be better. |
| Posted by: Slayer of Souls Apr 28 2006, 09:50 PM |
| >you jump almost 10 days and nothing new to report? 6 days, yes due to my fever! In the last two days I haven’t been pushing myself to maximum intensity, so could not objectively comment on strength. >Did you stop Anagen while sick? Where are you with this now? No, I consumed Anagen while sick, what’s interesting is that despite being sick I managed to maintain my same weight. When I fell sick earlier this winter I dropped about 5 lbs. I feel that Anagen helped preserve muscle mass. After training today, I felt as muscular and full as I did before my fever. |
| Posted by: Slayer of Souls Apr 28 2006, 09:51 PM |
| I will be back too full intensity on Monday/Tuesday! |
| Posted by: ed72338 Apr 29 2006, 11:27 PM | ||
Hmm, that's interesting that you didn't lose any weight. Don't know if you've been back to the gym but I wonder if strength has gone down or stayed the same. This product in addition to being a solid bulker might really be a great supp for cutting. |
| Posted by: Slayer of Souls Apr 30 2006, 01:44 AM | ||
I trained for two days after my illness, and my strength did not decrease significantly. Bear in mind that I choose to train at a lower intensity (10lbs less on most compound movements) since I did not want to aggravate my condition. I will be back @ full intensity on Monday, and will keep you posted regarding my strength. I agree, ECDY makes for a solid bulker/ cutter. In fact from what I hear people were able to gain lean muscle mass during a cut! I appreciate your comments. |
| Posted by: Christoph22123 Apr 30 2006, 10:36 AM |
| No strength decrease, that's interesting. Sounds like a good supp. |
| Posted by: Slayer of Souls May 2 2006, 10:52 PM |
| Day 27 Thursday: Upper 2 Incline Press: 3x5 160lbs Standing Military Press: 3 x 5-8 110bs Pulldowns (2x15,12 wide),(2x12 medium) 140lbs Reverse Pulldown 1-12 140lbs Rev. P-downs: 2 x 10-12 110lbs (10lbs increase) Training Weights stayed the same, however felt much easier. I could have easily added 10lbs to each exercise, however I wanted to make sure I was fully recovered. Diet: Spot on. Supplement Anagen In the first two weeks of supplementing with Anagen, my strength increased dramatically (10lbs/week). Soon after, I noticed much greater muscle density. My lagging parts in particular, have really begun to develop. It really is unbelievable what this supplement helped me to achieve. Prior to usage, my weight and strength remained constant, now it is increasing at a steady rate and has not started to diminish. Right now, I am noticing even greater muscle fullness. While out of the gym for a week, I was able to resume with a ZERO decrease in strength and weight. |

| Day 28 – Tuesday Lower 2 Barbell Curls: 2 x 6-10 Standing Reverse Curls: 1 x 12 A2G Squats: 1 x 4-8, 1 x 20 (widow-maker) 260lbs Rack Dead lifts: 3 x 5 225lbs Ham. Curls: 2 x 10 200 Leg Exten: 2 x 10 200 Calves: 1 x 15-20 275 Abs Work: 5 x 10 Training Great workout today, I pushed my self very hard on A2G squats as a result couldn’t perform as well on dead lifts. On a side note, I will be moving out of residence tomorrow and my diet will really start to develop even further! I am excited to get away from my relatively monochromatic diet, and through in some variety! |

| Do u think this a good product for strength slayer? thats the primary reason i want to try this. |
| Posted by: Slayer of Souls May 4 2006, 01:21 PM |
| Excellent for strength, however bear in mind that I am using Anagen in conjunction with a strength training program If I compare my current strength progression to that of a couple months ago without anagen, my strength is increasing much more rapidly now then ever before. |

| Day 30 Upper 1 Flat Bench: 5 x 5 (190lbs) Incline Dumbbell: 2 x 6-10 (30 degree) 120lbs (+10lbs) Incline DB Flyes: 1 x 12-15 (15 degree) 50lbs JS Rows: 4 x 6 (170lbs) Lateral Raise: 2 x 10-12 A1) Skullcrushers: 2 x 6-10 Training Fantastic workout today, bench stayed the same but felt much easier. Hopefully next week I will be able to set a new PR! Every day strength increases, I am able to lift more and more. Today I had an odd experience with Loaded Fascia Stretches, while stretching out my triceps I had a horrible pain in my elbow and shoulder, perhaps use a lighter dumbbell? Supplement Anagen I plan to add a bit more cardio (2x a week for 40 mins) just to lean out slightly. I am certain that anagen will help preserve muscle mass even while on a slight deficit. |

Wow! I have been on Anagen for a month now and strength hasn’t even begun to plateau. I am at 185 lbs, going to start leaning out a bit. My weight has increased by 10lbs. |

Thats awesome slayer, what percentage of your gains would you contribute to the anagen? |
| Posted by: Slayer of Souls May 7 2006, 03:26 PM |
| At least 4-5 of lean body weight, I am over estimating the amount of fat gain; its actually unnoticeable. I made minor changes to my diet (40grams increase of carbs) while everything else remained static. I plan to order another 2 bottles tonight and consume at a slightly higher dosage, Trouble has also suggested some dietary changes to improve sensitivity and I am very curious to know how that will work out. |
| Posted by: CDONDICI May 7 2006, 05:37 PM | ||
Me too, can you post up the changes? |

Hopefully tomorrow will be better, its probably just stress or insufficient time to recover :S |

Fantastic workout, definition is really starting to increase along with muscle volume. | Final Review: Overall, Scivation’s Anagen has helped me significantly in bringing up my strength as well as muscle volume and size. I increased my dosage gradually and was able to notice a dramatic difference in muscle volume. To maximize efficacy of Anagen I felt a dosage of 6 capsules worked very well for me. That will result in a bottle lasting only 15 days, but for the cost I feel that this is defiantly worth the investment during a cut/bulk or even maintenance. My sickness was an unfortunate event, however it allowed me to see the effects Anagen had even during this period of recovery; I maintained all strength, size, and definition when I resumed my training 1 week later. Normally when I increased my calories by approximately 200-400/day I noticed a greater increase in fat gain, however while on Anagen most of my gains were lean muscle mass. Hence I was able to increase my caloric intake and minimize fat gain. Now lets see my strength progressions on my major lifts. Squats 5x5 225 270 (45lbs) Rack Dead lifts: 3 x 5 270lbs – varied* Bench 4x5 180lbs 5x5 200lbs (20lbs) *Widow makers seemed to have really have a negative impact on my deadlift performance. I see it as a flaw in my program. Starting weight: 180lbs—>188lbs |

| To be honest, it seems like my strength progressions was not entirely progressive or even that great on paper. But if I combine all the results that were combined with my strength gain i.e, size, definition, fullness; it is defiantly worth the cost. I have experimented with various supplements in the past and Anagen defiantly given that extra edge I was looking for. I plan to order another bottle shortly but am still confused on aspects regarding plan origin and effectiveness. |
