White Tiger's Unofficial Testing of EVF Storm

Introduction: Where it all begins...

Intro

I hope this is a good spot to post this. It fits the topic, except I am doing this one on my own. The last time I truly followed a regimen or workout routine was when I was doing the durablast. I did like the way DB made my brain sit. I swear it gave a motivational edge to my workouts, and by the third week, I started noticing some major gains, albeit not on a workout scale. It seemed like the instant I ran out of my second bottle of durablast, my desire to train and be what I wish I could be had gone out the window. Alas, I still went to the gym, but even the PT'ers and regulars I saw out there told me I looked unmotivated but to "keep going, you'll be glad you did."

Enter: Abilene Sports Expo 2006.

As I mentioned in my WT Strikes Again log, my favorite local vitamin and supplement store gave me some awesome samples, and a friend of mine unleashed a massive load of EVF Storm on me. He said that they were almost expired and that even though they were not bad, the store could no longer use them, so he either had to toss them or give them away -- so I ended up with about 80 samples of the stuff. This will get me through the most of the 12 week routine I am starting today, and I will purchase the rest either from BN or locally. I like BN and I like getting things in the mail -- so I'll probably do BN. Did I mention the prices at BN rival the prices locally? REALLY CLOSE GAME.

The Tape

Age: 27
Sex: no...hahahahahahahahahahaha Female
Weight: 245 -- see toldja -- that winter weight just keeps going up!
BF: don't wanna know
Measurements: 42" waist. that's all I am going to worry about right now.
Experience: about 6 months most recent experience. I believe I could call myself an advanced bodybuilder, but I'm not gonna, as I still have not learned to FOCUS on my goals...which are:
Goals: Weightloss, of course, BUT I want to get stronger. I have a lot of high school friends involved in powerlifting at the moment. I have not been to a comp, yet, but seeing a friend of mine (17 year old girl) load a metal bar with 200 pounds and squat away about 4 times just blows my ass out of the water. That's frikkin cool. So this same chick, who is not much smaller than me (she's about 230 -- same height), has got me from 10lb dumbell curls to 20lb dumbell curls in 2 weeks. I never thought I could achieve it, since my big burly uncle couldn't do it twice. It's animalistic...

FYI

My job is 4:30am to 1:00pm. I am off on Tuesday and Wednesday. For training purposes, I consider monday the end of the week, since I work a 12 hour shift. Tuesday starts the training period. I sleep early -- I'm really rigid when it comes to getting 8 hours, so I turn in about 6pm and get up at 2 or 2:30 am. I do drink coffee, about 4 cups a day with a bit of creamer and sweet n low. I don't mention that in my diet because there are days that I don't drink any at all. I also drink diet soda, but maybe a total of 32 oz a day spread throughout (half of what it used to be) and only while I am at work.

Diet and Supplement Schedule:
wakeup - 20oz water and animal cuts (ephedra free)
4:00am - banana, sesathin, and a measured cup of milk
6:00am - protein shake, max cla, lean green, ghv
9:00am - 6 scrambled eggs, animal cuts (ephedra free)
12:00pm - lunch (protein and complex carb), 20 oz water, max cla, lean green
pre workout - evf storm
during workout - water or gatorade*, banana if needed
post workout - protein shake (I usually make a good one)
4:00pm - dinner (meat, complex carb)
bedtime - max cla, ghv, sesathin

So the supps I am taking are:
GHV
Primaforce Lean Green
Primaforce MAX CLA
Animal Cuts (Ephedra Free)
EVF Storm <--of course
Avant Labs Sesathin

Training

Max OT as described at AST Nutrition, wrapped around my schedule.

Tuesday - Legs
Wednesday - Arms and Abs
Thursday - Shoulders and Traps
Friday - Back
Saturday - Chest
Sunday - rest
Monday - rest
Daily Cardio - MAX OT Cardio

Misc Possibiles:
+something on the treadmill (cool down / relaxation)
+sauna -- I am a real glutton for sitting in the hot room with a good read.

Posting Day One Shortly...

Day 1: 84 days to go!

Summary

This was Day 1 for my Max OT training. I know where the phrase "go hard or go home" comes from. Trust me -- I was really thinking about quitting after the squats. Shaking shaking shaking in my quaddies after that. I did the workouts out of order -- but does order matter? Please tell me if it does. I also changed some of the routines, because I cannot do 45* squats as suggested. But I did not change the philosophy, because I believe that is where the program works.

Tidbits

->Okay, J1Q, I will post starting pics in a separate post.
->I also have some detailed goals, and I want to know if they are realistic
->I need to add "tanning" to my misc. I'd like to shed the "gothic tan" and get something more "sunny..." and since the tanning booths are available at the gym, I might as well keep a record of that, as well, if only for my personal benefit...

What I Did Today
...Tuesdays are Leg Days...

Weights
Hack Squats - 3 x 6 @ 70lb
I misread my handwriting. These were supposed to be 45* squat machine calf raises.

Smith Machine Squats - 3 x 6 @ 70lb
this is my first time doing a squat in public. This is my first time doing a smith squat *ever*...I am no longer afraid of the Smith -- I like it. It works. Made my quads shake just above the knees. I love/hate that feeling.

Leg Press Machine - 1 x 6 @ 110 (warmup), 3 x 6 @ 130
I am still not comfortable in this machine. I feel like I can't breathe when I am doing the reps.

Stiff Leg Dead Lifts - 3 x 6 @ 70lb
I believe, now, that 70 was a very light choice, though I believe it will be an effective one, as I was extremely wobbly.

Standing Machine Calf Raises - 2 x 6 @ 80lb
I thought that since I was doing so few reps, and that 80 kills me as it is, I'd go slow and thorough on my movements, bursting upward for the contraction, then slowly dropping on the negatives. Burn, baby, burn. And burn it did.

Cardio
Max OT on Recumbent Bike (supposed to be 16 minute interval training)
Estimations: cals burned: 186 distance: 4.5
the stupid bikes at the gym don't have "interval" training, and it seems that they can't be programmed for more than 6 minute stints -- what the hack is up with that? Maybe the bike I chose was broken, but either way, interval wasn't an option. What should I choose? Hill, Random, Fat Burning, Race, or Manual?

Misc

-> 10 minutes in the tanning booth.

Shame On Me for 10minutes!

-> rests were too short, between sets. I need to work on my patience between sets

-> need to write better in my notebook, so that I can read what I am supposed to do.

-> didn't get a full gallon of water, got 2/3 gallon down, though.

-gave in and went to a mexican restaurant for lunch with my mother, whom I rarely get to see. Not ashamed that I got to visit with my mom, but you know, 3 tacos, refried beans, and rice...I did request a salad instead of beans and steamed rice instead of spanish rice, and chicken in my tacos -- the guy goes -- yeah we got plenty -- everything is made from scratch, here! So I think I made up for it. Other than that, the supps and diet were the same...

That's it, for now...

WOW WT, i can notice a fair amount of change in your arms. They don't seem nearly as big as in the pics you posted during you DB log. Very Good.

I wouldn't post anymore pics until the end of this log. That way any results will be more noticable wink.gif

Keep up the hard work

Ate? Nothing different than what I lined out. Lazy me, I made chicken and broccoli for lunch and dinner. chicken like grilled chix breast on the Lean Mean Grillin Machine or whatever that thing is called.

Should I add glutamine to my supps? I have some if it would be beneficial.

Day 4: almost mentally into it!

Summary
What a georgeous day, today! I'll bet it's barely 70 outside. The clouds are low and dark, and the air feels almost wet. You can just about wave your hand around and need a paper towel to dry it off. But no mist, no fog. Just heavy, heavy haze.

This is Day 4 of 84. I don't know if it's a preferred method to look at my 12 week cycle, here, as an 84 day blitzkrieg, but it helps me out a lot. And the lazy side of me is screaming "some of those days aren't workout days!!!" It works for me, and every day I add to the amount of days I stay on track, the more days I am likely to add after that. It's a brain thing.

I weigh every morning. Just another habit I've done to see what damage I did the day before...damage that goes both ways: "you shouldn't have eaten that chocolate bar, I bet you weigh more..." I think it's psychosomatic, but today, I noticed the scale did move down. It read 242. I do plan on getting scales that calculate bf% as well as weight, so I can track that without having to shell the $7 that the gym wants for weekly % checks.

DOMS: lower quads, shoulders, between the shoulders, and right tricep.

What I Did, Today
Weights
Lat Pulldowns 3 x 6 @ 80lb
Seated Cable Rows (straight bar) 2 x 6 @ 70lb
Good Mornings 2 x 6 @ 60lb
Hyper Extensions 1 x 6, 1 x 5 (10lb plate)

Cardio
16 mins. cals burned: 137, distance: .93 mi

Misc
sauna: 18 mins

What I Ate, Today
3:45am 10 oz milk, animal cuts, CLA, lean green, and ghv
5:45am carbrite bar (cookie dough), 12oz diet coke
8:15am 4 eggs (scrambled), animal cuts, 40 oz water
11:00am carb rite bar (since I left my lunch at home duh), diet coke, CLA, lean green
3:00pm (pre workout) 1 ground up sirloin patty and 1 cup brown rice with 1/4 cup of garlic alfredo sauce (most I didn't eat, I left it on the side to see how much I was wasting), 40 oz water
during workoutabout 40 oz water
5:15pm(post workout)CLA, a hand full of raw almonds, 20oz water (probably more, as this is a current thing), protein shake (water, twinlab whey).

...now that I've finished writing this, I thought I'd mention the clouds finally gave in. It's raining. (we need it, too)

Day 5: Week 1 Ends with great inspiration all around!

Summary
Today, I stayed totally focused on eating correctly, despite waking up at 4:30 (I am supposed to be at work at 4:30). It wasn't as nutritious as I was hoping; nevertheless I did not eat "bad things."

I have a strange complaint. I don't know if it is stress, but for some reason, I can NOT go to sleep when I normally do. Normally, I start getting tired at about 8:30pm, and go to bed about that time. But recently, it's been as late as 11:30. I have, until this morning, woke up before 2:00am (my first alarm) wide awake and totally unphased by the fact that I got less than 4 hours of sleep. I am not sure if this is a Storm thing or what. It could be the fact that for once in my life, I am genuinely happy for myself, yet there are people hating on me from all over the place. I feel loved when people hate me. That usually means they spend time thinking about it, which means they stressed over me. I get a certain ... satisfaction ... out of people who take time to think about me. tongue.gif

I attended the high school meet I was talking about. I posted some pictures in the members area. I was very impressed with the amount of weight -- and the showing as well. It was a packed house, with I bet over 150 kids competing. There were seven schools, and several of the smaller schools placed very high in the rankings.
The Jim Ned Kids (shameless ego plug), are taking home 6 medals, including 1st place in the womens' division (go Jessie!!!).

DOMS: none, really. (I feel my shoulders and traps, but they really don't hurt. It's like there are sensors letting me know they're active.

What I Did, Today
Weights
BB Bench Press 1 x 2 @ 80lbs 1 x 3 @ 75lbs 1 x 4 @ 70lbs 1 x 4 @ 70lbs
Incline DB Bench Press (20lb dumbbells) 1 x 6, 1 x 5
DB Flyes (20lb DBs) 1 x 6, 1 x 5

Cardio
30/30 HIIT down the dirt road. 1.6 miles in 12 minutes. AGAIN WHY does it take longer to mile out on a treadmill vs manually?

Misc
nothing

What I Ate, Today
4:45am 1 carb rite bar, 16oz water, animal cuts, cla, lean green, ghv
5:45am 1 peanut caramel atkins candy bar, 16 oz water
8:15am 16 oz diet coke
9:30am 3 cans of tuna, 1/2 pickle, 1 tbsp mayo, 16 oz water
3:00pm (pre workout) banana, STORM
during workout 20 oz water
5:15pm(post workout) protein shake mixed with water and 8 oz milk
dinner (soon) ground beef. i don't feel like cooking, and I'm not bulking, so I don't have to eat a carb. neener neener neener!

Posted by: White Tiger Jan 28 2006, 06:57 PM
I also wanted to mention -- this workout felt different. I dared to go way beyond what I have ever tried to do on bench (80, last time I tried I was unstable and doing 50lbs). Whoever mentioned squats would be easier if I added more weight may be on to something.

After I finished my bench presses and rested, I realized my arms and chest were feeling tight. It wasn't really a pump, but they did feel really tight. Tight is the only word I could think of.

I also sweated a helluva lot more than normal. Especially in the HIIT -- and I was wearing shorts and a tshirt in 60 degree weather. It's either the metabolism, the diet, or maybe the tanning...

The storm, so far, is really good. It's kinda got a sting, but the grape is pleasant. I do note that you have to shake it or swirl it around, so the heavier powders stay in the water when you drink it. Not a problem, really, but I know that stuff that falls is the stuff you usually need.

Day 8 of 84: Legs II

Summary
I'm bummed out. I really don't have much more to say than that. My grandpa is having heart surgery pretty soon, my supervisor hates me, I lost a dear friend because they believed circulating heresy, and I'm about as stressed as you can get. I'm mad at the world. But that's okay. I worked out. By the way, when I said I as squatting 70lbs -- I forgot to include the bar and fasteners. I did 120.

Today was leg day, and this is what I did

Squats:
2 x 12 @ bodyweight
1 x 4 @ 45lb (just the bar)
1 x 3 @ 75lb
1 x 6 @ 100lb
3 x 5 @ 135lb

Calf Raises
2 x 8 @ 80lb

Hack Calf Raises:
2 x 6 @ bodyweight

Leg Press
3 x 6 @ 150lb

Treadmill 16mins - .99mi 140 calories

That's it. I ate poorly in that I didn't eat anything practically all day, save for 2 of my protein bars and a protein shake for breakfast. Still did the supplements. But I did get more than a gallon of water in.

Boy, this week has really sucked. I have been to the gym once. After that, I've been pulling slack at work for someone who quit. I've been able to get shoulders and arms in. Chest, as well, but I'm limited in my resources.

Anyway, weights have not changed.

Diet still going well, but I've gained 10 freakin pounds. Not in waist, though. My bf% has gone down as well. Remember how when I started it was 58% a LONG time ago?

It's now 41%. Waist is 41" Weight up to 251. Maybe it's muscle? I wish I did pre-testing measurements.

Damn.

Hopefully it gets better...

Week 3 Day 1

Legs again

Well last week sucked. I mean royally sucked. I managed to keep the storm and other supps going, and only worked out at my house, since I was too tired to go to the gym. I purchased 25lb dumbbells and also added 25lb plates to the armory.

On my legs, today, however, I managed to maintain the weights I achieved last week. I upped my squats to 135 and my leg press to a whopping 170. I am going to try lat pulldowns at 100, tomorrow. I think I can do it, now that I know how to make the lat do the work instead of my arms and shoulders (that's what the wide grip does, duh!!!)

I'm seeing my tricep through the fat when I contract it -- that's a MAJOR change, since I have never been able to see it. THE FAT IS GOING AWAY.

WOOOOT!!

Anyway, I'll write more, tomorrow. Sorry for the vagueness of the entry...

Posted by: White Tiger Feb 12 2006, 05:09 PM
Not much to report other than the workouts are intense! I feel like a powerhouse. I weighed in at 239 -- first I have been under 240 in 3 years. I think I can credit a lot of this to the diet I am on, as well as the monster cardio (I gave up on HIIT and just go hard until I can't) I am doing. Tuna and eggs get old, but so does bread, bacon, potatoes and other food. So I don't think about that, I just eat my tuna and eggs.

Anyway, I'll try to do a couple of detailed reports this week to show my development on specific days.

Posted by: White Tiger Feb 17 2006, 04:42 AM
...so I go to the doctor, and he says the reason I am having so much trouble losing my fat is Polycystic Ovary Disease. He perscribes glucophage and says creatine shouldn't hinder fat loss. The BUN and Creatinine tests I had to take came out very good, and he said my body's actually showing a healthy but higher amount of creatinine in the system. Is this due to Storm or is creatinine something totally different than creatine?

He said the glucophage should help with the way my body uses sugars of any kind and will help my body become more insulin sensitive.

EVF Storm Watch
day I have no idea -- lost count!

I got into a routine at the gym. I'm not quite max-OT'ing like I was,
but the Storm results are obvious. I have about 4 more weeks on this
84 day cycle and my results still are not noticeable -- probably because
I cannot get my brain to work properly on the diet side. So far as weights go,
I'm now lifting 30 on the curls. I think that's sick. LOL What's funny is that these
kids that play baseball for a local college team I won't name were in the gym when
I was there. They saw me lifting 15lb DB's for warmup and started cracking up. I knew they were looking at me. So I went to 30's after that, and cranked 8 for my set, and one told the younger guy that was laughing to shut up. When I went to cardio, the one that was quiet mentioned something to the one that was laughing, and the one that was laughing couldn't even lift 30lbs. He should have been able to at least do that, I think. The one that was quiet was WAY stronger than me. But I guess he knew I was business and not really in there because I looked good.

So I'm doing well -- again, no pics for another 4 weeks. Then it's on.

I do apologize for lack of updates. Adding this to my overtime at work is taxing enough.

Now if only I could get my diet in check...(I know what to eat -- I just can't brain the willpower to stay on track -- I think it is because I am tired)...

Posted by: White Tiger Mar 22 2006, 09:46 PM
I can't believe I am doing this.

Just give me one day. One day is all I ask. That's what I said to myself all day, today. "Just one day." I forced myself to drink nothing but water. I had one soda (diet). I swear I got sick this evening because I have had no sodium or sugar. I don't give a shit. I'm tired of making excuses.

I have $150 worth of stuff I bought from Universal Nutrition and I've done nothing but prove that I can be a lazy slob of a human being, and I know that -- I MORE than know that there is so much potential under all this waste of a body. I know because I've seen it before.

So just one day, I said all day.

I did things correct, today. I made no excuses. I even choked the vomit back as I worked my legs to rubber. There was enough bile to gag a fucking maggot. But I kept it down.

I couldn't cardio today but I did sit in the hot room for a while. I did it just to cool off, if one could imagine.

I think I scared myself when I stood on the scales and saw that I was back to 253. What the fuck good is weights when you don't eat right? But who cares -- all I care about is doing it right. It's God's way. It's my way.

I didn't know I could eat a bag of arrowtooth flounder and another bag of broccoli in one day -- but it's all I had. Tomorrow will be more broccoli (I like it) and probably perch. The bag that said "watch out for bones" -- so I got toothpicks with it.

I'm not a fat person. I'm a lazy person. But not anymore. I'll give myself one more day tomorrow, and probably another after that. But these colors and pretty things are no more. I'm sick of being sick of myself.

I'm ready to fight the tides and see the animal I really am.

Posted by: White Tiger Mar 23 2006, 05:46 PM
I gave myself today. I did good. Nothing spectacular, except that I followed through.

I'll give myself tomorrow.

Posted by: White Tiger Apr 4 2006, 11:22 AM
My brain hurts.

The first 12 week test I try and I flop after week 4. Week 5-8 were valid attempts but honestly it sucked. So the last 4 weeks turn out okay, with maximum improvement on strength and stamina, minimal on size (growing or shrinking).

Enter fad dietism. I won't say what I'm eating, now, but I have lost 7 pounds in the last 6 days, while changing little of my workout routine. I have begun devoting one day out of my week to pure powerlifting, which I DON'T do at Gold's. I do it at a local high school. I also am doing just cardio one day a week as well. the other four days are legs, back, arms, then chest. If I need to separate my arm days (bicep / tricep together does not sometimes workout), I will do one on a given day, and the other on my cardio day. I will be doing that half marathon before too long! As far as that goes, I am aiming to get my miles under 14 minutes. Currently I've finished 14:37. This is all on treadmill, btw. It takes me a little under 8 to go down the .6 mi road and come back. So I know in "real life" I am already well under ten. But when you're paced, I guess it is different.

Anyway, heres to a good week ahead. Shock and Storm are now being taken together. There should be some great strides soon.

Sorry, again, that I stumbled out of the gate. Sometimes it takes a bit to get a true groove.

Sorry, again, that I stumbled out of the gate. Sometimes it takes a bit to get a true groove.

Hell that happens to everybody from time to time. The difference is getting back into it and not giving up completely. Hang in there wink.gif

Posted by: White Tiger Apr 16 2006, 07:09 PM
Thanks, Skate!

The biggest block to being successful in this is expecting results NOW. The second is not following a real diet. Like I said last time I posted, I shot up to where I weighed to begin with, and so far, I'm going down again. Officially, today, 248.

I think Cardio is the #1 aid in assisting with fat loss, and weights just make the loss more noticeable. It's gonna be a real while until I can show that I'm making a difference, so when I get comfortable with more pics, I'll definately post one.

Also when I get to 200, I'll let you guys know what diet I'm paying for. The food is good, I'm not as hungry all the time as I was when I started, and I can use peanut butter as a quality cheat food.

Guys and gals, I'm feeling much better. All that work Storm and Shock are doing is finally being noticed.

Thanks for support sorry I don't write as much!

Suzie

I'm going to let this be the final post here, until I reach my goal weight of 180.

I took Storm for 8 1/2 weeks, before realizing it was conflicting with my nutritional restrictions. I took Shock for 4 weeks (the latter 4 weeks of the Storm intake).

I am VERY pleased with STORM. The grape flavored stuff left no bad taste in my mouth.
After about a week of taking it, I began to feel saturated. Watery. After two weeks, that feeling turned to a solid feeling. Solid in a good way. Like a block. I felt like a block. I could tell that it was working around the same time, I noticed my strength was increasing because I was able to lift some noticably heavy bags at work. I picked up a 78 lb suitcase with one hand and put it on a cart. That's unheard of, normally, for me.

When I introduced Shock into the system, it seemed to sync with Storm, and I started to feel those explosive bursts of strength in the gym, able to deadlift 225 in repitition (x3, don't get too excited).

Unfortunately, due to my bf%, I was unable to see any physical results. I went to see a nutritionist, and she placed me on a (yet to be named) diet, suggesting that I discontinue use of any supplements other than a multivitamin until I am in enough shape to notice physical change. OH and she said I did not cardio enough.

Currently (this is about 15 weeks from when I started), I'm at 246, almost 20 pounds from 265, which is where I was about a month ago. I can deadlift 200 regularly, and the storm and shock are missed.

I'm using the DL as my example, because I've made the most impact there (I started at about 120). My form has improved, which has been the biggest reason for my lifting increase.

From here out, I'm going to go back to the general training journal.

Peace, everyone. OH I'll put a picture up, soon. I'm still rolly, but you won't believe how loose my pants are. The pants I'll put on used to be very tight around the thigh area. smile.gif

Final -- this is the image I took last weekend. The pants I am wearing in the pic used to be snug. Way too snug to pull them out as such. Because of my camera, I couldn't get a good view of how loose they are around the thigh area -- where I can really tell a difference. I still have a big ass. haha. But here I am, from 265 to 248. Today, I'm 246 and finally fully understanding what diet does.
