I'm tired of waking up at 3am starving, even after having a pre-bedtime meal (whey shake, cottage cheese, oats). I know this is hurting my muscle gains. I could just go into the kitchen and have another whey/cottage cheese meal at 3am, but my sleep is so important; if I do anything more than go to the bathroom, my mind will have a hard time getting back into meaningful REM. So, I need some advice on the best micellar casein powders to take pre-bedtime. I just ordered ISS Micellar Matrix; I guess I'll find out soon if it works. Compared to other MC products, it had more protein per gram/dollar. If anyone has had experience with this or any other MC products, please let me know what you think. Also, is there anything else you take before bed to aid in repair & building during sleep (such as ZMA)?

Pure MPI, that's pretty hardcore. I couldn't stand the taste. I doubt most products have enough casein in them. Find something that lists the % of protein that comes from casein. Another option is eating a lot of cottage cheese.

Uh, I dont know the rules regarding posting other stores in this forum but there is a place I use that allows you to customize the exact % of Micellar Casein and Whey Isolate to be used. I personally just use a 50/50 combo....maybe I should bump that up to a 60/40 or 70/30 though. What do you guys think?

If you can tolerate the taste... go for it. I would recommend using milk protein isolate though, it is 20% whey protein, 80% micellar casein, and a lot cheaper.

It's my understanding that the Boire study findings revealed the slowest absorbing protein to be miscellar casein and not any other form of casein. Is there any findings to support milk protein isolate? I dislike the taste of MPI, but most miscellar protiens taste decent. I prefer Dorian Yates Pro-Peptide or even Naturally Lean Matrix by Pro-Lab, both of which contain blends utilizing miscellar casein.

Milk should be good for this purpose. Anything that turns into a thick, milkshake type consistancy is what you are looking for. Adding things like fiber, inulin, cream, whole milk, will all slow the digestion times. Cream will make anything taste better. If you have not tried it, give it a go. Taste can be a personall thing. Milk does have some chalky aftertast. 30mpi, 40 micellar, and 30 whey (or there about), seems to be a blend that works for many people. Taste is pretty good, and comes out to roughly 60% casein with a hell of a lot of calcium.

Try ProPeptide Protein. Although it's a protein blend, it's certainly first among equals when it comes to superior Miceller Casein Supplements.

I've been using micellar casein by VPX for long time (it's only one product I buy from VPX, btw) I think it's about 80% of casein in it, tastes really good and the price is pretty reasonable.

believe it or not i am a big fan of muscletech's nitro tech night time. yeah, yeah, it is by muscletech, but this stuff has actually been working for me, not to mention it whips up real thick in a blender so it keeps me full (i dont wake up hungry). If you are really anti muscletech, which i know some people are try either micellar matrix or designer whey glycerlean. i've never had glycerlearn, but i heard a lot of good things about it, so i bought it and am waiting for it to arrive, ill re post once i get it and give it a try.
