Here is a picture of me in May 2004; I hadn't lifted weights in my life up to this point. I was basically all bone; no muscle on me whatsoever.![]() I've been working out sporadically since August 2004, however the past month I have been going solid, working out every day and really concentrating on building mass/improving my figure. The following are two pictures I took tonight: ![]() Attached is an image of my gains (they're not exact but give you a general idea) that I've made since beginning working out for those who are interested (named stats.gif). Also I just wanted to say thanks to the many people who have answered my rather newbie, idiotic questions that I've asked over the past few months. You guys have helped me tremendously and I appreciate it very much. I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am today without the help you guys have given me. Thanks. The progress I've made is nothing spectacular, but to me, it's great progress. My self esteem has gone way up and I love going to the gym to work out every day. However I'm nowhere near what I want to be at and I'm going to continue the hard work and hopefully continue to see gains. |

| Keep up the great work! Looks like it's paying off for ya. Keep the calories high and stick to powerful compound movements as a base for your workouts, and you shouldn't have any problems gettin' to 160 by the end of the year... that's a lean 160. <got this from unstable> B. S. D. Bench Squat Dead ... bread 'n' butter, baby! |

| Thanks for the comments guys. I know I look nothing like most of the people on here, but these gains for me are quite decent. I use to be sticks and bones as people called me so it feels good to finally see some progress, even though it is small. |

And it's that small progress that should be your motivation. Seeing yourself actually grow is an awesome thing. I remember a few years ago when I was weighing in at 169. Now, 45 lbs. later, I'm weighing in at 215. Watching the progress, though in small increments, was my motivation to keep going and working hard. As long as you feel better, that's all that matters. |

Yeah man, just remember that it's NOT about what you look like now...it IS what you look like now compared to before! So don't worry about comparing yourself to other people on the board. For all you know, they've looked the same for the past 10 years! (not gearing towards anyone, just making a point, so nobody take offense to that). |

You're getting something else beside bigger... -You're getting self confidence, and yeah, you can see it in your after pic - you're getting a little extra something we all get as we progress... Attitude! Yup, Got that sorta shit eating grin smothered there, but its showing up anyway in that "cat thet got the cream" expression on your mug. welcome to the club It only gets better (the struttin stuff) , as you get bigger.... |

| Sweet! I was 136 when I got serious too! I'm 5'9 if it matters. But after about 4 solid months of MaxOT, whey and creatine I got my weight up to 164. I think I hit 156ish within 3 though. So dive in and enjoy the ride! If you get serious on all three areas: workout, diet, supplementation you can gain through the roof. |

You dont need larger muscles to have... attitude. |

| You're right, James, you don't need a great physique to have attitude. Our society has ingrained in us a belief that looks are all important. If you're not self-confident, you don't strut. You ain't got that attitude. So, let's just settle on agreeing that it can encourage self confidence. <but I'm tellin ya, it really does give most of us a certain ass-kicking attitude> |

| You may not think you need muscles to have attitude but you sure as hell need them to back yourself up. |

Glad we got that cleared up. |

| You may not think you need muscles to have attitude but you sure as hell need them to back yourself up. this has to be one of the most controversial sayings its always brought up hehehe. in a way you do most people are intimidated by big muscles most people who see someone huge will back down from a fight but I have seen so many huge people get the living hell beat out of them by someone less than half there size I have also seen some people push up nearly twice there weight. Don't get me wrong if a a 250+ individual connects with a punch and has his weight behind it your going bye bye but don't ever underestimate those little nerds who are sitting in the library all day cause some of them might be dangerous lol |
