That was a very good article, it gave me a much better understanding of the mechanism by which the glucose uptake is increased. I was already aware of the partitioning benefits of
ALA, but I had never read an article that explained it in such a way. However, it still leaves me with the question that my coworkers and I have discussed in the past: What role if any could
ALA play in ketosis? Would taking in
ALA as part of an already low carb diet put a person into ketosis faster and help to maintain it longer? My personal experience with
R-ALA as part of a low carb leaning diet was that seemed to get leaner faster taking 200mg before each meal (5-6 meals/day), as opposed to just consuming a low carb diet alone. It seemed that what little carbs I was taking in were more quickly partitioned allowing for more ketosis. Anybody else experience similar results?
