Hey thanks a lot, I've really been tryin to get ripped. Not sure what it is either but seems last couple weeks I've just been looking a lil more cut everyday.

Yes I am working on DR X's piece for the next 5 hours or so.
Remember a shadow can only be cast for a reason. If it wasnt for your lean sinewy muscle those shadows would not be there. hehe

Hah suppose you are right... you know about shadows and all that so I'll take your word for it wink.gif Your painting is just so amazing by the way.. it's quite the talen you got there. Plus you're looking pretty well sculpted yourself cool.gif Ya know I think BN needs a chatrooom for these late night sessions.. that'd be kinda interesting. Doubt that would happen.. and might turn into something ugly at times. Alternatively I suppose we could all sign on to the msn messenger or something.

Thanks for the comps Speedster. I just signed up for msn messenger.

I don't know about being a night owl, but there are mornings when I wake up pretty dang early (4:15) - with a frickin ZING - like a jolt of joy juice, so nada chance of falling back asleep to 5:30. I think it might be a body pH issue (ran out of veggies again yesterday, grocery shopping today should take care of it. I don't have pH test strips to check this but will add those to my shopping list today. I wonder if this might explain the unstoppable humor jag yesterday afternoon (or was it sparring with Dr X that did it??).

I bet I don't feel as chipper later on today when I do chest and then go off to a long TKD sesssion....didn't get quite enough sleep last night.

I've got to send 'em a message thru the forum, so I thought I'd drop by to say hello.

You're going on night #3 w/o sleep?? You're gonna be havin some weird ass hallucinations before the nights over....

Vanity is sure to be lurking, soon. He's joined the BN addicts club.

<shit, I noticed he's zooming past 300 posts already!>

What *is* the magic number of posts to be promoted to "advanced member"??

And the criteria / formula for becoming a moderator is...?

<yawn> Time to hit the hay.

Good luck with Dr X's painting!
(Is the theme "Moses on the Mt", by any chance??)

Hey guys. I was just at a party, it was pretty good but the girl I went with was tires so we left early. I just started seeing her so didn't want to be an ass and make her stay hehe, too soon to push my luck. Was a decent night though, I think things are going fairly well with the girl too.. but we'll see. Yeah, now I'm bored though, we were staying up really late every other night so this is still early for me... and the damn messenger won't let me sign on so I can't chat with anyone mad.gif Anyhoo.. this place seems quiet but I'll lurk for a bit wink.gif

Heh, I do that too man, quite often in fact. Sometimes you don't want to question life too much though... somehow it just can make things worse. I personally know that I've been wasting much time.. gotta get my ass in gear and do something.. something meaningful and useful I hope, get some kinda job where I can make a difference ya know. Yes, I want to do something worthwhile...important... something that makes a difference in peoples lives.

This biz I started just is not it. I mean I do the best I can...take pride in my work and all that. The end product is a good thing-makes people happy but i am missing something MAJOR in my life. Something I need to do.

Yes I hear ya man, something major is missing in my life too and it's when that realization hits you that you start questioning everything and the worth of everything you do. You have to find something you can get more satisfaction out of, I know I do. I really think I'd be happier if I could find something I can do directly to help others. Actually I plan on volunteering at a clinic by my place, work the crisis lines and such. If it works out then I think I may go back to school and become a councellor.. too many people out there that need a lil help. Have to do something meaningful to give your life meaning I guess eh, well hopefully it all works out and I can at least make a small difference. Anyway, I think Im ready for bed now.. gnight and take care.

So I went to bed before the chatter on this thread got interesting, so sue me.

(ya'll saw my posts on sleep a while back, right? How important it is to bbing success)

Damn, I'd give my eyeteeth to see what Vanity is reading in the library...mags?

Or is he getting out books? Subject? Go Vanity! (if you're reading books or thought provoking reading in the mags...)

James and Speedster:

You wanna make more of your life? You don't have to change jobs, move, get more educated. Instead, get involved in your community. You guys are in great shape. Speedster, you can volunteer in kid sports - coach, mentor kids in diet and exercises to improve sports performance. J

ames, you have talent crawling out of those hands - get active in volunteer jobs that emphasize to kids and young adults the art of learning how to express and develop artistic creativity. It will stimulate your left brain even more, give you ideas (subconscious), help ease stress (beyond that of your business and commissions), reassert the importance of what you know and can do, in your community.

In other words, improve perception of self-value. Instant change in brain chemistry. Pay attention.

In the past, I have read for the blind, helped coach kids, donate my time to the local school systems to guest lecture on the value of science and technology, careers in same, and environmental topics. Donate with red cross, emergency response, donate my profesional services to local and state government to solve pressing problems in my areas of expertise. Get active in local and county governments, if only to show up when key public feedback meetings are held.

Make your voice heard, if you don't, you can't legitimately bitch about not being heard, not making a difference!

I also volunteer in the adult learning programs, whereever I live. Doesn't take much time, but bestows a *great* deal of statisfaction and sense of community worth to your life.

This is very much underestimated - the importance of this connection in your life - think along the lines of psycological benefit for yourself, not so much for others, when you reach out...

You raise up respect, and get powerful pushes of key feel-good hormones, a chemical pat on the back for doing good.

Wealth has many denominations, other than paper money, material goods and popularity. <my own words>

Posted by: vanity Jul 9 2005, 11:03 AM
I read mostly non-fiction. I like a lot of science stuff by Carl Sagan. If it's political I like Ann Coulter, Dennis Miller. Business books I get are usually by Tom Peters or Harvey Mackay.

The ones I gotta return;

I picked up "Little Big Men - Bodybuilding Subculture and Gender Construction". It's a book from an anthropologist who takes on the BB culture and writes about their egos, why they do what they do, their lives, etc.

It wasn't very well written. I skipped around in most of it. Extremely boring.

The other one was a non-fiction. For those I like Robert R McCammon and Dean Koontz.

Personally, I think you'd make a great hero-figure for the local kids, James (kids will look for role models other than just their parents). If you've got the looks for it...who knows, you might incidently inspire them to eat and exercise, because they'll want to be like you, someday...

I drink, smoke(well until recently), have done more than my fair share of many mind altering substances.... have been jailed for fighting(more than once)(only because I was DRUNK!!) (hehe) have TRERRBLE nutritional/sleep habits...hell I even work myself into a state of exhaustion on a regular basis.... the list could go on... (long list)

A role model...I am not.

I shudder at the thought of a young person looking up to me.

That said, my desire to do the right thing has grown enormously.
I have come to realize that our time hear is just so short. Really it is.

I want to do something meaningfull. Something that has an impact..... maybe I will do this through art. I actually have a lot I would like to say to the world.

Sounds good man. I've done a lot of changing myself over the last year. I used to drink fairly heavily, probobly was bordering on alcoholism and getting myself in a bit of trouble as well. Never was jailed but I have had the cops haul my ass off into the drunk tank. I also smoked like a bastard, did my fair share of drugs and ate like shit. I rarely drink now, am cutting out the smoking and eat for the most part extremely healthy, I just wanted to get myself out of that trap and my life is much better for it. But, I also have gotten to a point where I realize I have to do something with my life and it has to be something with meaning. I actually haven't had a job for over 5 years now.. I've been living off insurance from my car accident I had in 2000. Granted those last 5 years haven't been a total waste, I was in school for most of that time... but in the end I got tired of it and didn't know what I was doing anymore. In that time I have also had a few surgeries, learned how to walk again and basically rehabilitated myself so that I am finally able to function as a productive member of society. My life has improved by leaps and bounds but I now have to concentrate on getting my ass back into the world. My insurance runs out in february so I have to have some form of employment before then. Unfortunetly the only degree I completed was in history, and there are not many options there. For awhile I was in computer sciences but realized it jus twasn't for me, sure I oculd have gotten a well paying job but that is really meaningless to me.. I just wouldn't have felt like I was actually doing something worthwhile for myself or those around me. Like I said I have recently begun to think about councelling because I have been through much adversity myself and pulled through and feel I have something to offer, as well my family and friends feel I have a good connection with people and am always good at helping them through their problems and it always makes me feel better when I can directly help someone else. Many feel as if I have a gift and I feel that I should put it to use and try to make a difference if I can, in particualr I would like to work with young people as I feel especially in this day and age they really are in need of guidence and support. So, my plan is to volunteer at a crisis centre where they will also give mr some training, perhaps I will enjoy it and also get a feel for the field, if so then I will possibly persue it as a career. In the meantime I will still have to find some form of employment though.. very likely somewhere I will not really want to work but it will only be to help provide a means to something better. So, I will see how all this plays out but I do feel I am on a better path. I hope you yourself can find something to bring you more purpose and happiness. Definately your art is a true gift and you may be able to find some way of using that in a meaningful way to have an impact on others. In truth perhpas you are also not so bad of a role model as you may think.. yeah you may have dome some of the wrong things and ended up in trouble for it but many of us have.. and your desire to change things means a lot. Often it is those of us who have made the most mistakes that can be the greatest teachers because we know what it's like to be down and crawl back up.. and come out stronger because of it. You probobly have a many strengths and a lot to offer, you already have the desire to reach out and make a difference and perhaps that's all you really need. There's a whole world out there that could use a hand in many different ways, don't tell yourself that yours isn't good enough. Lets get out there and see what we can do Bro.

Jezuz, Speedster! That was like being in a confessional!

So, you're on the right path. Sounds like you might want to think about getting some training in social work, if I read your (and I thought I was the king of run-on paragraphs) post correctly.

Meanwhile, yeah, you need to see a professional counselor to make sure you're headed down a productive path.

Switching gears to James....

You quit smoking. Good. You're not doing drugs, double-good. The problems with your diurnal patterns can be corrected. There are others on the forum that I've made suggestions to help redirect energy, focus, and push personal growth.

Who said kids can't look up to you? You see and catalog only the bad; I see the potential. Very promising.

Speedster doesn't need a push, he's already galloping towards a restoration.

James, you're the blank canvas. Just imagine what lies ahead.

You're primed and ready to go? Write me.

It's because she's so scathing you can't help but laugh most of the time. I don't follow her like a religion, but I like to read most of her stuff.

BTW - I've yet to FINISH a political book. About 1/3 of the way through I'm always like "OK, I get it" and have no desire to read anymore.

Upgrade, dood. You can get a 9800 Pro for like $220. That's killer cheap

I'm on an AMD64 with 1gig RAM and that ATI card....still can only go 800x600 in medium on BF2.

I'm a geek, and even I think that statement is over-the-top in it's sheer nerd factor. lol

But I do agree custom build is the way to go. I haven't bought a straight up tier 1 OEM machine ever. Only reason I have this laptop is my old business partner unloaded it on me cheap cause he got a new one on his dad's company's dime. It does what I need it to, and I have upgraded it quite a bit, just can't upgrade the video card unless I can find some custom interface.

Yeah my work gave me a laptop late last year as well. So I have been itching to build a desktop for awhile. Almost went to the AMD Tour last month cause they had 64 bit (3000+/3300+) Venice dual cores, a motherboard, and a full license of Windows 64 bit for $250. Not a great deal as far as hardware, but that OEM copy of Win64 makes it a sweet deal.

They had an Dual Opteron system as well, but the mb required registered memory ($$$) but if had some memory laying around, it was $500 for that package. I'll probably wait till the fall, hopefully they will dump the 4000+ on us then smile.gif

Posted by: vanity Jul 11 2005, 02:03 PM
I dunno how good Win64 will be for games.

Posted by: Btrice Jul 11 2005, 02:10 PM
Well it should run them as long as they are valid 32 bit applications. The biggest issue is drivers I think. I think there is a 64 bit version of Far Cry out though.

Thats the one game that comes to mind...they had a write-up about it on Toms Hardware.

They added more leaves, grass, and bugs. OH - and some barrels on one of the levels.

OoOoOOoOoO!!! The anticipation!! dry.gif

My wife isn't big into computers but since I am away from her 4-5 days of the week we sometimes play Hearts or Spades at night across the net. I totally forgot, I guess I DID make one Tier 1 OEM pruchase, I bought her a Hewlitt Packard Laptop last fall.

I kept that to a minimum and it only hurt during the set. Did some HIIT for the first time in awhile too (although hockey is HIIT in its purist form already) damn that felt good.

Just past 8:30pm way out west.

Another quiet Friday night. Did my leg workout today, plus the dreaded abs workout again tonight.

Think this will be an early night for me. I'm bound for an all day jazz fest in a neighboring burg tomorrow, and I if I remember rightly, the thing won't finish up until the wee hours on Sunday morning....

Two weekends of kick-ass jazz performances in a row.

actually, i dont eat much pizza at all

i am not trying to cut yet, but pizza just isnt my thing.......i'd rather just have like a bread stick and marinara sauce, or basically pizza without cheese......kinda weird, but oh well. i have only worked there a month, and only have a month til i go back to school, so far i havent eaten a single slice of "regular pizza". last night i had 2 small pieces of thin crust with no cheese....so probably like 75 calories or something, no big deal

I know too much information. Just be glad everyone that I am remaining isolated from the world around me right now. I am just glad I have a window the size of a wall that is open right now. Anyhow.. that's why I am at home right now. I'd still say it was worth it though...the food was great.. and I didn't even have to pay for it smile.gif Hope you guys are having a good night cool.gif

Surprised you remembered man. Didn't go so hot.. couldn't even tell you what happened, she just kinda backed off all of a sudden.. I think she just got kinda scared off by the prospect of a relationship, she's a very goal oriented person, doesn't want anything to interfere with that. Doesn't matter, I met a new girl this one is blonde. She's absolutely great, we've been having a great time. She's pretty, smart and has a great sense of humour.. best of all she laughs at all my terrible jokes laugh.gif I got a good feeling about this one wink.gif Just glad we decided to take a night off last night... she would've had to sit on the balcony all night.. even then she may not have been safe from the wrath of the curry laugh.gif Yeah Trouble I hear ya about the food thing I just love to go out and eat all different kinds of food. I am a lucky bastard and have a wicked Thai restaurant right beside my apartment building smile.gif

Yeah, rub it in.....

The sum total variety in this little burg: mom and pop grease joints, americanized chinese and poorly done mexican.

The vast majority of those living here don't bother to go out to eat at all. Why bother. The sunny side of this situation is that most of us have honed our culinary skills out of necessity.

To walk through the neighborhoods here on Saturday afternoon can be quite amusing, as the air is rodolent with a smorgasborg of outdoor grilling activities.

You name it, we grill it. The best thing about having native american buddies here....oh my god, can they do a salmon proud. Elk, goose, and duck are tender and highly seasoned, and their succulent grilled veggies are steamed with local wild grasses and herbs.

Most of us don't ever bother cooking indoors for most of the year, and in the winter, it's not uncommon to see the intrepid grill fanatic firing up steaks or attending to the careful smoking of a turkey or wild game bird, in shorts, hiking boots, and a tee-shirt, on a cold blustery day.

Summer is way of life, not a season, to these people of the PNW.
