Regarding what types of liver protectants to take, yeah, you'll find a lot of differing opinions, most of which aren't really backed by any science at all but also aren't necessarily harmful.
You should never hear differing opinions of WHEN to take, though, unless like with pro who suggested year-round
NAC and
ALA (and ALCAR, but the first two mentioned mostly for the sake of the subject). The time should be a no brainer. Let's see here...you're (not you specifically sweet-physique; I know you're just asking a question so I'm not flaming you or anything) taking androgens. Ones that, while this is very very overexaggerated, can potentially harm your liver. As these androgens have very short active lives in the body, it makes sense to assume that this potentially-liver-harming process takes place at a relatively "current" rate; or in other words, it's not gonna happen 23 days in the future -- it's happening now.
Okay. So this potentially-liver-harming process is taking place while you're on the androgens. Your desire is to protect your liver. You want to protect your liver while it's potentially being harmed. It's potentially being harmed now. Thus, you want to take your liver protectants now. Or, in other words, you probably want to take them ON CYCLE. Continuing to take them off-cycle during PCT isn't a bad idea either.
The problem with these new "theories" on when to take stuff is that since
M1T and
methyldien came out, way too many 16, 17, 18 year olds are trying to get creative and cute with the way they're doing it because they want people to think they're smart or that since they're doing it differently, they must know something. That and it's all bro-science, gym lore, whatever you wanna call it.
