I firmly believe that
mass gainers aren't that different compared to real food except for their convenience. Heck, there's a lot of food out there that only takes a few minutes to prepare and can have the same effect as weight gainers.
I was 165 lbs. 3-4 years ago when I started working out and I didn't even know if I would even get bigger (without being fat). I was wrong! During the first year, I would bring a loaf of wheat bread to college; including a shaker for
protein shake. My approach was different and the first few months, I wasn't getting any extraordinary results that I wanted. All I know was I'm eating big time only to match my lifts; otherwise it would be a waste of gym time. Its the only thing that kept me going; I want to get big! I didn't even understand the concepts of excess calories back then but the goal was clear on the back of my head.
I tried weight gainers before but later on found out that its not the best way around. I could easily just save my money and spend on things such as wheat bread, peanut butter, chicken, beef and
whey protein. Its basically back to the basics of growth and that is to stick to natural foods. You might not be able to understand this concept right now but sooner or later you will. I'm not saying that I didn't take supplements to grow but during my early years, I knew that its the biggest growth spurt of my 'growing career'. Now that I'm 232 lbs., the only stuff that I'm taking are
whey protein,
multivitamins and
creatine. It all comes down to priority and I became wiser on what supplements I should cash in. I hope this helps.
By the way, I used
Prolab before and its not a bad one.
