Having just moved gyms I have noticed they have a couple of power plates installed. I noticed they are very popular (especially with the ladies! if you get my meaning wink.gif )

What is your experience with them? I have tried them and they are good for messaging and relieving my calves after cardio.

I notice the premotion blurbs they claim a 25-minute session is the equivalent of an hour of weight training because all poses and reps are carried out on a large vibrating platform.

I am obviously a little sceptical about these "miracle" claims, but wonder how effective these machines are.

Any feedback guys?

If it looks too stupid to be true, it probably is.

I've read they're useless, but I don't remember where. dry.gif

Kinda like those things back in the day that were supposed to "jiggle" your fat off, with the big belt... kinda like those. And bosu balls. Useless. biggrin.gif

Nah bro theyre real good. I was skeptical at first but then i was like you know why am I being so tough. So I stopped by gnc picked up a nano vapor sample and i was off on my way. Now, just imagine the pump i had from Jay Cutler's DNA and these vibrating plates. My bench is hovering around 495x24, I know that sounds small but b4 the vibrators i was benching 95x13. Thing is once you get off you have to eat immediately because the anabolism is so extreme that it will turn your organs into muscle if you don't eat enough protein.

I've actually been part of some studies involving the power plate. The early research looks promising. Commercial gyms aren't really going to use them properly, and will just sell them as a gimmick. The early research has shown that they may hlep improve nerve impulse.

It some how activates the nervous system, "wakes it up" so to speak.

I can tell you one sure fire way to "wake up" your nervous system.

Lift closer to your 1RM. (HEAVY)

NOT close to 1RM... although maybe it is for this guy.

The initial research suggests that power plates done before a 1 RM attempt, increased peak force production.
