awhile ago i remember reading something about baking your gear in the oven if wanna make sure its sterile. i had to make multiple draws from my satchets since i didnt have a 20ml syringe. i wanna make sure 100% that its sterile so how would i go about baking it now that its in the vial? wouldnt baking the gear effect the test itself and its effectiveness? and what about the rubber stopper melting? i really wanna avoid infections as much as possible. thanks in the advance

Insert a large gauge pin (18 or 21) in the vial, with the tip above the surface of the oil

preheat oven to oven 200-220F

place the vial in the oven for 20 mins

transfer vial to icebox or refrigerator until cold to the touch

repeat (re-heat 20 mins, cool vial again) one or two times.

Alternating cycles of heating and cooling kill micro-organisms more efficiently than heating alone.

If you're using a large vial (anything that will take you more than a month or so to use Id repeat the above every month, so if you've ten weeks worth of gear in one 20ml vial then repeat the proceedure mid-cycle

It wont hurt the test

PS - bear in mind the above wont make the gear sterile, in the strict sense of the word, but it will make unsterile gear safer.

What's the purpose of inserting the pin?

well if you just have pins seperate from the syringe, just stick the pin in a little bit not hitting the oil, and it will vent that way

The plastic lock on the pin will probably melt.....I have some with metal locks I use.

Keep the vent pin out of the oil so it will vent any built up pressure.

Too high a temperature can harm the hormone.

You have drawn the oil from the sachet and placed it into a sterile vial? The ba to dissolve the hormone may or may not be enough to keep anything from growing in the vial. Baking can possibly help but if you wanted to be 100% certain the gear was sterile a Whatman .22 micron filter should be used, this size strains out bacteria, larger pore sizes don't.
