i am a little lactose intolerant so if i drink to much milk i will bload up and it will give me cramps and diarrhea but it does make protein shakes tastes a little better and thicker and slower absorption, but i tried something else since soy milk is lactose free i can drink all of it i want. Would it hurt to use soy milk instead of regular milk in my protein shakes????

Instead of milk, I sometimes add water, some oatmeal and a bannana to make a homemade mrp.

If you're a male, then I would steer clear of the soy milk. Too much soy can raise estrogen to undesirable levels and cause possible side effects in men. A small amount of soy in the diet is probably fine, but chances are you're already getting more hidden soy than you realize. Consciously adding more is probably just asking for trouble.

I would check in to Carb Countdown Dairy Beverages--they taste pretty good and I'm pretty sure they're lactose-free. Start with the chocolate flavored.

I think the soy thing is a little overstated. Not to say that it isn't good advice to limit your soy intake, but unless you're drinking a shitload of soy milk and eating other soy-based products by the truckload, you'll probably be fine.

From looking at my carton of Carb Countdown (the 2% kind), it doesn't appear to be lactose-free. They may make one that is, however. If not, are you opposed to just getting lactose-free regular milk instead of soy?

My buddy is the same way. He started adding 15 grams of flax oil into his shakes and that seems to slow down absorbtion of lactose and protien making it more tolerable.

The amount of lactose in most protein powders shouldn't cause many problems unless you are quite sensitive. The amount of lactose will always be less than the # of carbs.
