Just about everywhere I read about Creating Monohydrate, which I just started taking almost 1 month ago, I read that it should be cycled on a month and off a month. I hear from a lot of people that right when they are off it everything goes back to where it used to be and the gains are lost. Now in the last month, my bench went from 225 to 250, however I haven't gained any weight (19yrs. old, 5'11" 165 lbs). I sure as hell don't want to go back down to 225 now! Have any of you seen drops during the off month? Also...I was reading AnimalPak's website, and regarding creatine one article even said there is no proof that taking creatine all the time reduces your own natural production of it...meaning is it even worth having every other month off of it?? I know 95% of my research says the same stuff about creatine, but it only takes that one source that contradicts info to make you rethink what you are doing. Regarding their website, I love it, it's so cool, but I find a lot of what they say to contradict a lot of the normal adapted methods of training.

The gains they are referring to are body weight. Since you gain water weight while on creatine mono after you stop taking it, the water waeight is lost making it appear that you lost gains. However, your lifts should stay the same.

i don't think that 1 month is long enough. you shouldn't stay on it for ever but, i prefer 8-12 weeks cycles of it. i don't start noticing the real boost it gives until 3 weeks into taking it, unless i taking it with aakg then with in 2weeks. then i start to not notice again at around 8 weeks. i just get used to it. i gain a lot of water weight too, when i take creatine, my shoulders lose all definition. but after i stop it i lose the water weight, but keep my muscle gains. my 1rm's go down a few pounds because i don't have that extra burst, but overall i am still stronger and can do more reps. good luck.

Staying on creatine indefinitely does not pose any health risk (unless, possibly, if you have a kidney disorder)

Taking creatine does cause natural production and creatine transport to downregulate. However this does not pose any health risk. If/when you stop taking it everything goes back to normal right away. As long as you are taking creatine, tissue levels will be much higher than normal, so there's no real reason to cycle off that I know of.

I always wondered if there was any efficacy in taking in supplemental creatine "building blocks" post creatine cycle (i.e. arginine, glycine, and methionine) to boost natural production, but could never find any substantiated research either way. Anyone........ blink.gif

Maybe if we keep on posting replies, this topic will be closer to the top of the list so more people will read it and be able to help. This forum gets so many topics that in just a day it could be off the first page sad.gif As for me, I wish I knew more about all that stuff, but I really don't. Thanx for the info though.

Recovery is so fast that you shouldn't need to worry about this. Your body tightly regulates creatine production to make sure there is at least the required amount.
