I am thinking of buying something that I can take my bodyfat with at home. Does anyone have any suggestions or had something work well for them?

I suggest you buy skin fold calipers and avoid the electronic calipers, in which many lack millimeter measurements.

Skin fold calipers are cheap and accurate, look for something sturdy. From what I hear the cheap ones tend to have only 30-40 measurements before they wear down.

Why not get a scale. The calipers arent gonna be much more accurate if your doing them yourself

You mean just one of those digital scales that displays your bf? I thought those were pretty innaccurate? Do they actually work?

It's not very hard to measure your own body fat % using calipers. The body fat scales are skewed by hydration levels among other things. Calipers are probably your best bet, and are cheaper as well.

all you have to do is sign up, and then it asks you to take measurments of your body parts with a tape measurer. Then type your measurments in, and it tells you your bodyfat %

Its not gonna be much more accurate to do your own skin measurments. Most people dont get accurate pinchers, and don't know what there doing. As long as your hydrated a scale will give you the right ball park. Besides the trend is more important then the actual number

These are the only "non-electronic" calipers listed on BN, but they are only $12. I am assuming that is too cheap for them to be any good...right?

Those ones are fine. Calipers are not supposed to be expensive.

calipers are probably the best method.......anything sending an electrical current through your body would be inaccurate cuz if u flex or you have water in your bladder or even food in your stomach could mess up the readings......plus calipers are cheap as hell and it only takes a few minutes to get moderately accurate reades

Sorry guys, but those don't work very well, and under estimate body fat by a good 3-5%

You have to be properly hydrated, a good scale like Tanita is pretty accurate, and works well. It measured me at 12.5, and my coworker got me with good calipers at 10.5 It's just really hard for people to do their own bf, and be objective, and do it right. Most people screw up the placement, and how to seperate fat from muscle. But no, judging from your pic your not 18%. It actually amazes me how poorly some guys on here under estimate their bf%
