I have been on the see food diet for a while. And im having good strength gains but my arms are still small. they grown maybe an inch in 2months (@ 13.5 now). But the thing is there small but i have like 17 or 18 percent body fat.And its all in my stomach to upper stomach area. I can see my abs poke out somewhat out of it but just the top 2. would like to get down to 10, but i also dont want to loose any of the lil muscle i have right now. Should i cut now and then bulk up or what?

Oh im starting to do lots of running as getting in shape also for basic training in jan

my training is usually like this ....I change it up alot still trying to figure out what best some times chest or other get done twice a week

Monday = Chest and bis
Tuesday = calves and back and forearm
wednesday= tris and shoulder/neck
Thursday = abs and finish of the legs
Friday - usually off
Sat- bis and tris and sometimes chest
Sun - usually off

i got a messed up schedule but i work out someone and it depends if we think if we worked out that body part good enough for that particular day.

Diet = ehh basically eat like 4-5 meals a day and try to stay away from fast food. Steak and potatoe, eggs and whole wheat, and sometimes fast food burgers, sub sandwhiches, ham stuff like that

you are 18... BULK UP MAN!! you should be eating all the protein you can get in your mouth. quit jack leggin' in the gym and get intense with your lifts (lift alone if you must) and EAT. bomb's advice was pretty good: get up to 200 and then try to cut down a little. it'll be easier to cut the fat when you have more muscle to burn the calories for you 24/7

Id change my diet little by little Such as my case
First I cut out cookies. Second I cut out Pop beer and drugs
Third I cut out chips then added More protein and More carbs
If u change your diet little by little you will be less pissed off when your diet isnt perfect Its really hard to plan a diet and stick to it Seeing as how you may be busy One day and not the next.

Well if ya gain 2lbs a week for 5 weeks You'll be at 185 which will be under 188
I believe the WWE heavyweight goes 190+ I Dunno though So shouldnt the armed forces be the same? Also if u put On good Amounts Of muscle it'll make you look Buffer instead of fatter Theres ways to get dry lean gains without gaining so much fat...Youd have to ask around though Cause I just try to bulk dirty n quick

what branch are you going in? if i was you i would focus alot on cardio. i went to marine corps basic 6 years ago and muscle doesnt matter. if you cant keep up in a run thats a automatic drop. and there is no time nor will they let you go to the gym. but you dont leave till jan so you got some time to get in the best shape you can. sadly enough (i dont know about other branches) but the marine corps really likes physical apperance, knowing your job is kinda pushed back behind physical apperance. where are you going to basic?

Then ill start a clean diet but keep cardio in the works. May even go to the nearby boxing gym and train with them not sure yet depends on a lot.

What makes you want to join the airforce? sure the quality of life is better, but why settle for worst?? if your gonna so it go all out. i know not everyone is cut out for the marine corps but it is just a pride thing. i originally wanted to join the airforce and become a pilot but when i seen the marine recruiter get into a arguement with the airforce recruiter, the airforce totally wimped out. i then joined the marines and i am going to finish my ba and go to officer canidate school and go to flight training. even in iraq we were not allowed on the air force side of base were they slept in trailers with a/c and pools. they say we cause fights with them. well i wont blab on about it anymore, this isnt a military forum. but good luck. if you have any questions about the military ill be more than happy.

i dont think it matters so much if you bulk up because you will loose most of your gains in basic training wink.gif

concentrate on muscular endurance. how many pushups you can do without stoping, how many situps. start timing yourself on 1.5 mile runs...

The endurance training prep is precisely what you should be doing.

Not to worry about cutting or bulking. Should have said this, up front.

You will lose plenty of mass, the hard way!

Run, pushups, situps, run, pushups sit up....endless cycle.

I gotta local 18 yr-old kid I started weughgt training last May, gave him over to an endurance specialist in July. That was after I solicited advice here and elsewhere on how best to prepare him for for his first stint in th armed forces.

Kid has had a good 30 lbs of fat and muscle run off his 6' 210 lb frame (5 miles runs each morning 5am and a shorter 2 mile run, with pushups later in the day, 3-4 days per week).

Kid runs like a gazelle now!

Has to, he's bound and determined to go the special forces route.

Start another thread, call it marines endurance training question.

That will attract the attention of those members who have been through the wringer and can tell you *exactly* what to expect.

Good luck.
