I just bought a 2lb bottle of MUSCLE MILK. I have to say that it is hands down the BEST tasting protein EVER. I did almost s h i t my pants when I saw the saturated fat content. They say that they are LEan lipids and they actually help burn fat. Can anyone verify this?

Saturated fat in general is bad, but some, like MCT's are fine. The saturated fats in MM are MCT's. They are definately why it tastes so damn good! Their line about those fats helping burn fat is BS for 99% of the population; they will make you fat unless 1)you are dieting and your calories are WAY too low and you are in 'starvation mode'. The extra calories from the fat could tell your body its ok to let some fat stores go. 2) you are a super-cardio freak, like Mt biker/marathon runner crazy man. 3) you are eating plenty of calories, but zero fat; your hormones could get messed up, ie lower test levels which could lead to fat gain. I don't think those apply to most of us here. Try mixing one scoop of MM with a scoop of whey protein. Tasty, and lower fat!

Yea I understand. I mix about 3 scoops in and then split it with my friend. We drink this ONCE before we go to bed so that we can always have constant protein in our body.

I agree with mixing in regular (low-fat) whey in. MM doesn't have that much protein by itself to begin with, so the added protein makes it a real shake and dilutes the extra fat. It can be a good source of fat for those an CKD or just plain P+F meals (although the fact that it has those extra carbs/sugars makes it kind of cheating.) I guess that's why it's mainly an MRP. Anyway, for the nice casein/whey blend and even some of the great taste, I recommend EvoPro. It's a little more expensive than MM, but it's only the protein at MM's core, without the fat & carbs. Berry tastes awesome, too.

Just some added info re: MCT's. It is not just those starving or endurance athletes that benefit. MCT's are saturated fats, but are not metabolized in the same manner as LCT's. They are directly transported to the liver via the portal system bypassing adipose tissue and therefore do not trigger hormonal response to convert into adipose via lipase. They are treated similar to CHO by the liver and used as an energy source. They have also been found to have a slight increase in the thermogenic effect of metabolism increasing Energy Expenditure (~50 kcals).

hey DavzGrl, when combining MM with whey, how does it affect the texture? does it still remain creamy and awesome? Also, does the scoop of straight chocolate overpower the peanutbutter in the MM chocolate peanutbutter?
